Sammy Kaufman
Maid of Honor
Sammy was here first. In 2011, Nora received a letter from The Culinary Institute of America that Samantha Kaufman would be her roommate. She immediately logged on to Facebook for more details. Her first thought: "this girl is WAY too cool for me". When they finally met on move in day and began unpacking their beers, they knew that they would be fast friends. Their 10-years of best friendship has been filled with dance parties, music (shout out to The Big Roy Band), laughter, tears, puppy snuggles and LOTS of food. Nora is beyond grateful that CIA brought Sammy and the entire Kaufman family into her life. She cannot wait to celebrate her wedding day with Sammy as her Maid of Honor.
Alix Kaufman
Bridesmaid
Alix was here second. Alix is Sammy's younger sister. While Nora and Alix met on a handful of occasions when Alix was a student at URI, it wasn't until 2018, the year that Sammy and Carlos were married, that they began their friendship. Alix was Sammy's maid of honor and Nora was her bridesmaid. They communicated a lot that year and quickly learned that they had more in common than they even realized. In the fall of 2018, Sean was in Newport, RI for work and asked Nora to visit for the weekend. Alix lived in RI and met them for a drink to catch up. It was this night that Alix would meet her boyfriend Chris (Sean's friend/colleague/groomsman), completing our amazing circle of friends who are family. Nora is beyond grateful to have Alix (and all of her facial expressions) by her side!
Christian Flaten
Best Man
Christian is Sean's oldest and best friend. Growing up, Christian and Sean could be found exploring all over the bay area--in the ocean, in the hills and at every ski and snowboard show they could get to. They would often go on day trips to Tahoe to shred one of the many mountains at 4am so that they could get the full day in. Both started their high school career at Archbishop Mitty High but after two years Sean transferred to Del Mar High. However that could not separate them and neither have the miles or time apart. Sean is looking forward to having Christian by his side for this adventure as well!
Christopher Holman
Groomsman
Sean met Chris at Oakcliff Sailing in Oyster Bay, NY. Chris and Sean share many things in common such as being Eagle Scouts, their hard work ethic and having the ability to enjoy the little things about every situation. Anyone would be hard pressed to meet a more loyal person than Chris. He is an individual you always want with you, whether you are out on an adventure, struggling through an infuriating job task or just hanging around a cabin making food. Chris was also introduced to his girlfriend Alix through Nora & Sean on a work trip to Newport, RI at Midtown Oyster Bar and we are happy to have them both considered family.
Scott O'Halloran
Groomsman
Scott is Sean's younger brother and is currently living and working in Los Angles. While Scott and Sean have differed as much as brothers could have over their lives, they have both been very successful on their own paths. Scott is a lawyer in LA and you can often find him in the garden, surfing some waves or trying out a new vegan restaurant or recipe. He definitely carries the California attitude well and while he works really hard at becoming the best lawyer he can, there is always time for friends or a new adventure.
Carlos Ruiz
Groomsman
Carlos and Sean met during Sammy and his wedding in 2018. Once you meet Carlos, you will be stuck by how genuine and passionate of a person he is. You will either find him sharing his love and knowledge of all things agave, or see him dancing and shaking up a cocktail to the newest viral song. Behind the bartender charm he is always working on a new business plan and will no doubt be a successful business man with his friends and family by his side.
