Rabbit Ears Pass

This is a great spot for a hike! Local landmark you see as you drive over Rabbit Ears Pass. The trailhead starts around 10,000'. You can hike about 5.5 miles to the Rabbit Ears or you can get up close views from the trailhead and Dumont Lake!

Fish Creek Falls

This is a great spot to see a local water fall. You can stop at the lower falls if you're not feeling up to hike to the Upper Falls. The upper falls are worth the walk if you have the time. The trail winds up the valley following the river and opens to views of the upper valley and the town below. Note there is a fee for parking. Nolan and Melissa ran up and down this during their 100 mile ultra run!

Yampa River Botanic Park

There's a great walkway along the Yampa river running through town. You can also see the botanical gardens for free.

Howelsen Hill Ski Area - Emerald Mountain Trails

There are a of tennis and beach volleyball courts, baseball and soccer fields, a playground, and hiking trails from the base of Howelsen Hill. There is also plenty of free parking here with easy access to downtown.

Storm Peak Brewing Company

We love Storm Peak's beer - especially after a day of skiing, biking, or hiking! Enjoy their brews at the original Storm Peak Brewery (located just northwest of downtown) or the Bus Stop Taproom (located at the base of the ski resort).

Steamboat Ski Resort Scenic Gondola Rides

Take a ride up Mt. Werner and enjoy views only visible from the Steamboat Gondola. Once at the summit, breathe the fresh mountain air, take in the expansive views of the Yampa Valley, and explore the many miles of hiking trails.

Strawberry Park Natural Hot Springs

Strawberry Park Hot Springs is a must-visit while you’re in Steamboat — think natural stone pools tucked in the forest, perfect for a relaxing soak under the Colorado sky. Reservations are required (and totally worth it!), and the last stretch of road can be a bit bumpy — or you can take a shuttle for an easy ride to pure mountain magic.
