We were both stationed in Pensacola, FL for our first assignment. We saw each other at work and through mutual friends, but it wasn't until our first date that we really connected. Now who asked who and who came up with the idea of our first date is still an ongoing debate. We went down to the local music venue downtown the VINYL, and saw Blues Travelers. I think we can both agree that we instantly fell for each other. Maybe it was the drinks, but when we danced it felt like we were the only ones in the room, probably cause we were the only ones dancing lol. My stomach was full of butterflies and we instantly knew that this was something! In that moment we had no idea the journey we were about to embark on. After four years filled with countless hours of FaceTime, time in the airport and in airplanes, driving, and months apart, we are finally able to be together, and we couldn't be more ready and excited!
I was just getting back from my deployment, and Nolan was waiting for me back in Boise. Of course I was delayed getting home so it felt that much more amazing when I saw him at the airport. I couldn't get into his arms fast enough. He took me back to our place where he had everything prepared for our proposal, unknown to me. Laid out around the apartment were gifts hidden underneath labels for every holiday we spent apart through our deployment. From Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentines... The last present I flipped over read April 9th 2019 the beginning of our future!!! I turned around and he was on his knee, and before he could finish his sentence I cried out YES! It was a very emotional, beautiful moment that we shared together and will never forget! We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with our friends and family!
