How we met...

May 2017

Her version: We first met at Chocolatine in Thousand Oaks. I was impressed because we both walked up 15 minutes early for our date. He had a large beard going which made his smiling eyes stand out. I didn't know he had dimples hiding under it. We sat outside & ordered cappuccinos & talked about our new townhomes we just bought & how we were both renovating. The time flew by & when I had to go, he walked me to my car & asked what I was doing for dinner that night. (That let me know he had a good time & wanted to see me again.) We made plans to meet up the next day for breakfast where he was early again. He put our reservation in before I got there. Again, the conversation flew by & we continued to get to know each other very fast. I didn't have any clue over that weekend you would end up being my forever best friend. His version: It was my idea to meet for coffee at the local French cafe. I was 20 minutes early and went inside to check it out. It was a little chilly so I thought about sitting inside. Then I thought it was rude for me to go in before she got there. I turned around and started to push the door open. A young woman appeared on the other side of the glass door. Her layered attire was perfectly arranged and accessorized; warm, yet functional and thoughtful in a way that said, "Oh, I just threw something on." At first, the door sign was in front of her face, but when I opened the door a bit more, our eyes met. I smiled, but she didn't. Some would say that means she's not interested, but I knew it meant her brain was distracted, nay, enchanted by my beautiful beard. We sat outside, and she kept looking at my beard, clearly swept up in a cyclone of emotions. She didn't expect to see it, never mind one so well grown. She didn't want to like it, but had to keep herself from reaching out to touch it. After telling her I owned a condo, I noticed her trying to find my dimples buried under my beard. It was then I knew she had fallen under my spell.
