Question

How do I get to Catalina?

Answer

By sea or air, getting to Catalina is easy and fun. You can get to Catalina Island by ferry from four mainland ports in Southern California – San Pedro, Long Beach, Newport Beach or Dana Point – and the ride is only about an hour by boat or 15 minutes by helicopter. Helicopter services are available from Long Beach, San Pedro, Burbank Airport and John Wayne Airport/SNA. You can also travel by private aircraft or private boat! Once on the Island, the town of Avalon or the village of Two Harbors are easy to navigate by foot – Avalon is only about 1 square mile. Taxis and shuttle buses can take you to your destination, or you can rent bicycles or one of our iconic golf carts. *****We Highly Recommend Long Beach for out-of- townees If you book your flight into LGB Long Beach to the Catalina Express Ferry Building: allow (20-30 mins. in Taxi) + Ferry If you book into John Wayne or LAX to the Catalina Express Ferry Building: allow (45-90 mins.) pending LA traffic. + Ferry

Question

How do I book a Ferry?

San Pedro and Long Beach have direct freeway access and have close proximity to Los Angeles or Anaheim. For travelers coming from South Orange County and San Diego, the Dana Point location is the most convenient and is located in beautiful Dana Point Harbor. For fast, reliable, shuttle service to Catalina Express ports, contact: Karmel Shuttle: (888) 995-7433 BOAT & HOTEL PACKAGES (MOST HOTELS ON ISLAND OFFER- INQUIRE WITH HOTEL BEFORE BOOKING FERRY)

Question

WHAT IF I MISS MY FERRY (breath)

Answer

With some companies, if you have not checked in 30 minutes before the boat departs your reservation will be canceled and your ticket will be nonrefundable. The trip takes approximately one hour. If you are prone to seasickness, Bonine or Dramamine may be advisable. If you're running late or there has been some issues getting to Ferry, call company and see if you can get placed on the next scheduled Ferry (typically 1-2 hours later). It's much easier getting there than missing the boat on the Island side of things. A lot more people leaving Catalina and that's the one you don't want to miss! All Ferry terminals and Ferry's have bars located in them!

Question

what happens when i get to catalina?

Answer

Avalon is less than a square mile, so you can roll your bag to town (less than 1/4 mile) to rent a cart or potentially just walk to your Rental/ Hotel. Golf Carts maybe included in your rental but you will have to get to it first. Taxi services available : (310) 510-0342 Pending Hotel, inquire about shuttle transport (especially Holiday Inn) We will try to assist with having a friend pick you up if possible via Golf Cart if you get in a bind. Plenty of friendly people on the island.

Question

DO I NEED A GOLF CART?

Answer

No: Not if you're staying in Avalon proper. Yes: if you're staying in Hamilton Cove (when booking inquire VRBO) Yes: if you want to rent one for the day to zip around the town. Note: Catalina is very busy with day trip tourists; plan to get a cart early in the day so you don't have to wait around. If you enjoy being your own guide, rent a golf cart. Golf Carts are Avalon’s unique transportation of choice and is a great way to see the picturesque city. Not reserved just for the Golf Course anymore, they are a great way to sight-see at your own pace and get around as the locals do. Hourly rentals available where you can set your own course or follow the map provided. Catalina Auto & Bike Rental: (310) 510-0111

Question

can i bring my kids?

Answer

We love your kids—we really do. But we want our wedding to be your night off! We’ve booked a couple babysitters to make that a reality. We ask that there not be any children at the reception at this time.

Question

What's the dress code

Answer

Island Chic please. But we want you to feel comfortable, so if those shoes are too high or that top button is too tight, please come more comfortable. We do a lot of walking, so wedges, flips and sandals are preferred. Please, lot's of color and patterns!

Question

where are we registered?

Answer

East Bay SPCA AMAZON Thank you for considering a gift if you must, having you with us is a gift enough. However, if you insist, please see our links to the listed locations above and kindly don't bring out to the island for logistical reasons. xxxx
