Folsom Lake is a reservoir on the American River in the Sierra Nevada foothills of California, United States. It is located within Placer, El Dorado, and Sacramento counties. It is about 25 mi northeast of Sacramento. The lake contains 11,500 acres of water and has a surface elevation of 466 feet.
The museum is small but impressive, packed with memorabilia related to Johnny Cash and the rich history of this 100-year-old jail. You'll find exhibits showcasing Cash's famous 1968 concert at the prison, along with artifacts that provide a glimpse into the daily life and history of the inmates and staff.
Placerville was named after the placer deposits found in the river and creek beds around the town during the Gold Rush. While miners found gold in the rivers and creeks around town, Placerville became an important supply center for the surrounding mining camps. Today, Historic Main Street has unique shops and top notch restaurants enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.
Old Sacramento State Historic Park is located within the Old Sacramento Historic District of Sacramento, California. It is generally referred to as Old Sacramento, or Old Sac, and since the 1960s has been restored and developed as a significant tourist attraction.
The California State Capitol is home to the government of California. The building houses the bicameral state legislature and the office of the governor. The grounds of the capitol form the Capitol Park.
