We love New York and it is such a beautiful natural area where we thought had the most unique venue setting. We love the outdoors as it is no surprise Nikki loves her trees! Chris' family lives in Catskill, NY and Nikki quickly felt at home with its similarities to Canada! The Catskill area is a great middle point for all our traveling family and friends, it is about a 5-6 hour drive from Maryland, DC, Virginia, Quebec, and Ontario! Logistics are still easy if you choose to fly into JFK and then take the Amtrak at Penn (NYP) station to Hudson, NY station. Lastly, but most importantly, we wanted to have Chris' grandmother, Doris, join the celebration as she will be 98 years old! We want to celebrate with her favorite drink - Manhattan. Round Top is a quick 10 minute drive and we have her and anyone else in need of a carriage (golf cart) arranged to escort around the venue.
New York JFK is the closest airport. Then you can take the Amtrak at New York Penn Station (NYP) in Manhattan to Hudson, NY ~2 hours by train. Hudson, NY is about 20 mins (24km/15 miles) to Round Top or 10 mins (8km/5 miles) to Catskill.
Catskill is where Chris' family lives and a vibrant town with many things to do! The venue in Round Top is only 10 mins away from Catskill. This is a mountain resort area, so there will be plenty of home rentals (AirBnB, Vrbo, etc.) and we are more than happy to provide further recommendations upon request.
Yes! Bring your whole family and leave no one behind! We will have a kids menu available and we will have an indoor place available on-site for kids to play board games, draw/color, nap, or rest inside if the adult crowds become too much. We plan to hire child care for the wedding day so you can relax outdoors with your kids still nearby.
