A champagne reception to celebrate Nisha and Sam's marriage! We will be getting married in a small family-only ceremony a day earlier, and the reception is an opportunity for us to celebrate the occasion with all our friends.
The champagne reception is in The Great Chamber, the "jewel in the crown" of The Charterhouse Museum, Charterhouse Square, Barbican, London EC1M 6AN. Follow the signs at the entrance of The Charterhouse Museum to access the party.
It starts at 7pm and ends at 10pm on Saturday 1 April 2023.
The dress code is Black Tie, Cocktail or Indian Formal. This means either dinner jackets with bow ties, suits with ties, evening dresses, or – for those wearing Indian Formal – sarees or lehengas (for women) or sherwanis (for men). These are guidelines only; the most important thing is that you look fabulous!
We will be serving champagne, wine, beer, cocktails and plenty of finger food. Note: there will be no sit-down meal.
Please check with us first.
Unfortunately, there is no guest parking available at The Charterhouse Museum. However, the streets around museum do have paid parking spaces. These are available on a first come first served basis and cannot be reserved.
After the reception, we will be going to a nearby bar to continue the celebration! Location will be announced on the night. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join.
If you want to be as close as possible to the venue, you should consider accommodation in either Clerkenwell or The City of London. However, it is very easy to get to The Charterhouse Museum via multiple forms of public transport, meaning that pretty much anywhere in central London is suitable! If you want specific recommendations, message Nisha or Sam directly.
The Charterhouse is a Grade 1-listed historic complex in central London. The Charterhouse has been home to many significant moments in London's history since it was founded almost seven hundred years ago, in 1371. It has been a monastery, a grand mansion, a boys school and an almshouse. Queen Elizabeth I took residence in The Charterhouse in the months before her coronation in 1559. The Charterhouse is reportedly one of only four substantial buildings in London that Elizabeth would still recognise today in more-or-less its original form. It was chosen by Elizabeth because it was the largest and most luxurious house in the vicinity of the city and because of its location being just outside the city walls. The Great Chamber, where the reception will take place, has played host to grand royal occasions – including Privy Council meetings – and was the backdrop to decades of Tudor plotting and intrigue. It is the only Tudor great chamber to survive in London and remains the jewel in the crown of this ancient historic site.
