Lima & Beyond

The Wedding Website of Diana Loayza and Niko Fichera
Lima is considered South America's culinary capital. This coastal city is home to world-class food, colonial-style architecture, bohemian art and great nightlife. Here is an extensive list of our recommendations for places to eat, things to do, and much more!
Punto Azul

Punto Azul

595 Calle San Martín, Miraflores, Provincia de Lima 15074, Peru

Our favorite seafood restaurant in Lima. We highly recommend the ceviche clasico, pulpo al olivo, jalea de mariscos, and if you're feeling especially hungry the tacu-tacu.

Isolina Taberna Peruana

Isolina Taberna Peruana

Av. San Martín 101, Barranco, Lima 15063, Peru

Located in a charming historical mansion, Isolina is where chef José del Castillo serves up delicious dishes of nostalgia via Peruvian comfort food.

Gran Chifa Chung Yion

Gran Chifa Chung Yion

Calle Unión 126, Barranco, Lima, Peru

Gran Chung Yiun is peruvian-chinese fusion restaurant regarded as the best chifa in Lima. Soups are a standout, as are delicacies such as chancho asado (roast pork) and pato al ajo (garlic duck).

El Tio Mario

El Tio Mario

Jr. Zepita 214, Barranco, Lima 15064, Peru

Make a wish at the Puente de Suspiros (Bridge of Sighs) and then enjoy the exquisite anticuchos (marinated beef heart skewers) and picarones bathed in chancaca honey, this delicacy made from pumpkin and sweet potato has always been a family favorite.

La Lucha Sangucheria Criolla

La Lucha Sangucheria Criolla

308 Diagonal, Miraflores, Lima 15074, Peru

A popular sandwich-chain: try a fried-pork-and-sweet-potato sandwich and wash it down with a smoothie made with lucuma (one of our most beloved Peruvian fruits). To die for!!

Ayahuasca

Ayahuasca

130 Avenida San Martín, Barranco, Lima 15063, Peru

As an emblematic restobar in the heart of Barranco, Ayahuasca has become a reference point for the ever so Peruvian Pisco Sour. The signature cocktails, based on pisco, are mostly made with their own macerate of herbs and coca leaves.

Cusco

Cusco

Situated in the Peruvian Andes, Cusco developed, under the Inca ruler Pachacutec, into a complex urban centre with distinct religious and administrative functions. It was surrounded by clearly delineated areas for agricultural, artisan and industrial production. When the Spaniards conquered it in the 16th century, they preserved the basic structure but built Baroque churches and palaces over the ruins of the Inca city. During your stay to Cusco, keep hydrated, avoid heavy meals, and try the local remedy, coca leaf tea. If you're planning to trek to higher elevations, we suggest spending 1-2 days acclimating in Cusco before beginning the journey to Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is an Incan citadel set high in the Andes Mountains in Peru, above the Urubamba River valley. Built in the 15th century and later abandoned, it’s renowned for its sophisticated dry-stone walls that fuse huge blocks without the use of mortar, intriguing buildings that play on astronomical alignments and panoramic views. Its exact former use remains a mystery. We suggest taking 1-2 days to acclimate in Cusco and then take a direct train that offers stunning view to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you will then take a bus up to Machu Picchu or hike from Aguas Calientes!

Amazon Rainforest

Amazon Rainforest

The Amazon Rainforest, a vast and fascinating ecosystem, is one of Peru’s most valuable treasures. With an extraordinary biodiversity and unparalleled cultural richness, this region captivates all adventurers who enter its lush forests. Just a two-hour flight from Lima, Iquitos is one of South America’s best locations to observe tropical wildlife and get an authentic Amazon jungle experience. However, if you plan to stay the majority of your time around Cusco, we recommend traveling to Manu National Park park in Puerto Maldonado. One of the greatest places for birdwatching and home to giant otters, jaguars and caimans.

Arequipa

Arequipa

Arequipa is the second most populous city and is an unmissable destination for those seeking to know the essence of Peru. The “White City” is another appellative of the city due to the white volcanic stone called Sillar that forms the beautiful architecture of its Historic Center. The bride's father is from Arequipa. Near Arequipa is the Colca Canyon, a river canyon in southern Peru famed as one of the world's deepest, is a well-known trekking destination. It's a habitat for the giant Andean condor, on view from overlooks like Cruz del Condor.

Cajamarca

Cajamarca

Cajamarca was marked in history as the city of rescue. In it, the Spanish captured the last Inca, Atahualpa, who offered a room full of gold and two full of silver for their liberation. The promise was kept and still the Spanish executed him, officially beginning the conquest of the Inca empire. In Cajamarca, visit the archaeological sites Cumbemayo, Kuntur Wasi Ruins, Santa Polonia. Alameda de los Incas, and relax at the Baños del Inca (hot springs). This is the birthplace of the Bride’s mother.

Nazca Lines

Nazca Lines

The Nazca Lines are a group of ancient geoglyphs and a mysterious culture drew them in the middle of the desert many years ago. They are located in the Nazca Valley, near the Pacific Coast. Historians claim that the inhabitants of the Nazca Culture created more than 370 geoglyphs between 200 AD. and 700 A.D. The best way to appreciate them is through an airplane flight.

Máncora

Máncora

Peru

Máncora is a lively seaside village whose biggest claims are surfing, ceviche, and year-round, sun-drenched skies. In case you don’t know how to surf, they offer courses all the time at a very comfortable price. Simply put: If you’re looking for the good things in life without added fuss, Máncora is the haven you’ve been dreaming of.

Cordillera Blanca

Cordillera Blanca

Close to Huaraz, the White Mountain Range stands like chains of mountains and snows with 16 peaks of more than 6000 meters in height. The Huascaran is its highest snowfall with an altitude of 6757 meters above sea level, it is the highest mountain in Peru. There are a good deal of snow experiences like climbing, hiking, and mountain biking.
