Travel Note
Citizens of U.S., Canada, Schengen area, United Kingdom of Great Britain do not need a Peruvian tourist visa. You must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months. There are no vaccination requirements to enter the country. If you are planning on visiting the Amazon Rainforest, Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Yellow Fever vaccinations are recommended. We have listed our recommended accommodations below. If you decide to book accommodation elsewhere we suggest looking in the neighborhood of Miraflores or Barranco. Tap water in Peru is not safe to drink. You should drink bottled water instead. Cash is preferred over credit cards outside of Lima, where many places may charge a fee for credit card use. Currency exchange offices are all over town. Uber and Cabify are available in Peru and we recommend them for getting around. Please, do not take street taxis.
Flight
You will fly into Jorge Chavez International Airport, which is about 8 miles outside of Lima and can take between 45 minutes to 1 hour in a taxi. After exiting customs at the airport, there are taxi stands where you can book a taxi to take you to your hotel or Airbnb. They accept debit and credit cards.
