We met through my cousin Payal who insisted on setting me (Niketa) up with her husband's buddy (Parag). I was single and over the dating scene but I figured my cousin wouldn't set me up with a jerk so I thought I would give it a shot. Parag, who was also in a similar place decided to give this is a shot and sent me a text message that said "Hey I noticed your area code is 314, are you a Cardinals fan?" I thought oh boy, this guy is some crazy Chicago sports fanatic. Turns out, I was right and of course he chose our first date to be a Bulls game. What I never imagined was a very fun first date that led to many other dates and eventually finding our forever!

As far as Niketa knew, this weekend was going to be any ordinary weekend. I told Niketa we were going to a brewery for an early drink and then to my friend's birthday party in the burbs. When we arrived at the Wolfden brewery, the bartender asked if we wanted to try the puzzle of the day and if we can guess the riddle, we get a free beer. We solved the puzzle (although one piece was missing) and we guessed that the riddle was heading to the fireplace. When we got to the fireplace, there was a guitarist and a photographer taking photos of the guitarist which Niketa didn't think anything of as she thought it was a promotional shoot. We sat down and as we were listening to the live music, Niketa noticed a single rose and candle next to the fireplace. Niketa being a huge Bachelorette fan turned to me and said “It’s like we’re in an episode of the Bachelor.” And that’s when I said “Oh yeah, let me grab the rose for you then!” That’s when the waterworks started and Niketa realized what was happening. I gave Niketa the missing piece of the puzzle which said “NP 4ever” and gave Niketa the ring. After a "Yes yes of course!!!", we went to my parent's home where both sets of families were waiting to surprise us! We were both so happy and I was relieved my plan had gone as expected!!!
