FAQs

As noted, we have changed our venue to La Grande Estates in Oakley (1799 Carpenter Rd.). We apologize for any inconvenience this causes. If you have any other questions or concerns that have not been addressed, please contact Jill Shodeen at: sjna321@gmail.com or 925-989-0934
Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

This is California...anything goes! However, if you are that concerned, think garden party attire and bring a matching (or not) face mask! Women: sundresses, sandals, light-weight slacks, etc. Men: khaki or other light-weight slacks, light dress shirt

Question

What is the weather like in Oakley?

Answer

Oakley is dry and can range anywhere from high 80’s-over 100 degrees in August with some warm delta breezes. Currently August 1st is showing a high of 96 degrees. Check the Weather Channel a few days prior so you know how to plan. Our ceremony and reception are outdoors. We will have a tent for the reception with electric fans.

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

The ceremony is scheduled to start at 11:00 am. You can plan to arrive as early as 10:30. There will be a coffee/tea bar available pre-ceremony.

Question

What restrictions and precautions will be put in place due to Covid-19?

Answer

As weddings/receptions are being phased in, they are certainly under the guidelines of social distancing. FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED. Please bring your own as we will have a limited supply on hand. Temperature checks may be a possibility and hand sanitizer will be provided. Our ceremony and reception are outdoors on a 10-acre site, so we feel that we can safely accommodate our guests. However, we truly understand if you are uncomfortable with the risks involved and choose not to attend. We will not be postponing or cancelling our wedding at this point and we will be getting married August 1st come what may.

Question

What will the ceremony be like?

Answer

Our ceremony will be brief to ensure our guests are comfortable. We ask that families (and those who come together) sit together, but remain six feet apart from other parties in the same row. It is required that guests wear a mask during the ceremony. The ceremony site is large enough where people have the freedom to stand off to the side if they choose to do so.

Question

What will the reception be like?

Answer

We ask that guests keep six feet of distance while waiting in line for drinks during cocktail hour. We will have a coffee/tea bar separate from the cocktail bar. During brunch, guests will be seated according to “social bubbles” or six feet apart when this is not possible. If you are not comfortable with your seating arrangement, there will be empty tables available for you to move to for more space. We ask that wedding guests be patient while their table number is called for the buffet line. Food will be served directly to each guest through the line. The catering staff will be wearing masks and gloves. Guests are required to wear masks at all times EXCEPT while eating and drinking.

Question

Will there be dancing?

Answer

To be on the safe side, there will be no conga lines, but guests are encouraged to show off their dance moves in a large allocated space. Dance with those you came with. There will also be lawn games for those who prefer not to dance.

Question

Will the ceremony be live streamed if I cannot attend?

Answer

Although the ceremony will not be live streamed, you will be able to view it on Vimeo the following day.

Question

If I am uncomfortable attending the reception, can I come just for the ceremony?

Answer

Of course! There will be a coffee/tea bar available before the ceremony and you are welcome to sit or stand off to the side to watch the ceremony and then leave if you wish. If you know beforehand that you do not wish to attend the reception, please let us know so we can adjust tables/headcount.

For all the days along the way
