Question

Do I need a passport to travel to the Czech Republic?

Answer

Of course you do, but please ensure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months past your scheduled travel date. Otherwise, you may be denied travel.

Question

What airport should I fly into?

Answer

The nearest airport is Václav Havel Airport (PRG), it is located about 25-30 minutes from the city center.

Question

What currency is used in the Czech Republic and can I use credit cards to pay?

Answer

The local currency is the Czech koruna (CZK), also known as Czech crowns. Credit cards are widely accepted, although carrying a little bit of cash could come in handy at times.

Question

Do I need an electrical adapter?

Answer

Yes. For all electrical devices with a plug that were purchased in the United States, you will need an EU adapter. Make sure you check if the devices support a voltage of 230V, otherwise you will need a voltage converter.

Question

Is English widely spoken in Prague?

Answer

Yes. English is widely spoken in Prague, especially in hotels, restaurants, shops, and tourist areas. While learning a few Czech phrases can be fun, you should have no trouble getting around using English.

Question

What is the tipping etiquette?

Answer

Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory in the Czech Republic. In restaurants, it is common to leave around 10% for good service. Many people simply round up the bill to a convenient amount. When paying by card, you may need to tell the server the total amount you would like charged, including the tip.

Question

Can I drink tap water?

Answer

Yes. Tap water in Prague is safe to drink and of excellent quality, so there is no need to buy bottled water unless you prefer it.

Question

Which neighborhoods do you recommend if I do not choose to stay at the Augustine hotel?

Answer

We recommend staying in the center of Prague, where most of the city’s major sights are within walking distance and public transportation is excellent. Some safe and beautiful neighborhoods include Vinohrady, Anděl, Staré Město and Malá Strana (the first two are generally considered more affordable options in terms of accommodation price point).

Question

What weather should I expect?

Answer

July is one of the warmest and sunniest months in Prague. Daytime temperatures are typically around 25–29°C (75–85°F), though some days can be hotter. Evenings are usually pleasant and cooler, often around 15–18°C (60–65°F). It is always better to check the forecast right before traveling just in case.

Question

Can dietary restrictions be accommodated for the wedding reception?

Answer

Absolutely. Please let us know your dietary needs when you RSVP or feel free to reach out to us.
