We're Getting Married!

Back in 2018, Nicolette was completing her fellowship in Miami, Florida and Peter was stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico. At this time, as most millennials do, both Nicolette and Peter were chatting up strangers on the dating app Bumble. If you're unfamiliar, Bumble is a dating app where both parties have to swipe right on each other and "match." Once there is a match, the female has to make the first move and message the guy. That year in September, Peter took a trip back home for his brother's birthday. Nicolette and Peter both matched and Nicolette sent out the first message of "Hey there :)" and Peter promptly responded "We're dating now." Interesting tactic on Peter's end, but somehow it worked. While unable to meet on that trip, Peter went back to New Mexico, but he and Nicolette continued to text, call, and have Facetime hang outs where they challenged each other to geeky history trivia. They continued that pattern for about 3 months before being able to meet in person. In January of 2019, Peter came back to Florida and the two finally met. After all that time, Peter officially asked Nicolette out. Peter and Nicolette dated long distance for about 3 years due to Peter’s military assignment in New Mexico. When the COVID pandemic hit, Nicolette and Peter went almost a year without being able to see each other in person due to military travel bans, lockdowns, and Nicolette working in a hospital that did not allow staff to travel or take vacation during that time. In March of 2021, Peter received a new assignment to Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho. Nicolette was able to find a job in Boise, Idaho as well. Finally, after three years of long distance, two duty assignments, five states, two temporary duty assignments, one deployment, and one crazy puppy later, Nicolette and Peter are engaged and ready to get married!
