Stop at shady creek on your way up as an “almost there” point (halfway from Chicago). BEST BLT EVER!
Most wineries have cheese and meat and crackers to snack on along the way but we like bringing some lunch snacks with us because there isnt really many places to eat around the wineries. Cell service in not good so save maps before you go.
Dablon: Definitely a favorite. Situated up on a hill you can look out the window to the vineyard or sit outside with some of the snacks you can purchase. 2121: If you decide to stay up near the St.Joeseph/Benton Harbor area and have the time this one is a must go. Really pretty views at their outdoor space. 12 Corners: Nice outdoor space here and if you time it right you can check out some live music. Ask to try the sea salt chocolate with the wine, it is one of our favorites! Free run cellars: This is the sister winery to Tabor Hill. Great outdoor space for a picnic. Red top: Stop here. It’s just cool and their wines are good. Great outdoor space with bags and live music. Hickory creek: Just around the corner from Round Barn, the wines here are some favorites. We went here the beginning of June and they have some new ones that of course we had to buy!
Round Barn: This is the brewery for Tabor Hill and one of the first stops Nicole ever made in Michigan Wine country. Hunter gets to come inside and hang out for tastings if it isn’t too crowded. Watermark: Hunter loves this spot because it is dog friendly. They don’t have food so pick some up on your way in. Haymarket: Another dog friendly (sense a trend?) spot with good pizza and lots of outdoor games.
- Casino - Beaches - St. Joseph’s Lighthouse - Boat Charters - Indiana dunes (not too far away)
We just went here and the drinks and space were wonderful! It has a fun atmosphere and the food looked good though we didn’t try anything.
The food is awesome! We had the Korean BBQ tots and a pizza. The tots were incredible - you must try them!
