In February 2020, Scott moved from San Francisco to NYC. He had recently left the corporate design world, with stops at buddhist monasteries, cabins in the woods, and nights in national forests. Nicole was studying for the GMAT when she became patient zero, testing positive for COVID in March 2020. They found themselves relocated to their parents' more spacious suburban dwellings, while NYC dating prospects idled on Hinge. In May, Scott sent Nicole a message... and waited. Two weeks later, she responded. They had mutual friends, including two of Scott's prior roommates who went to Brighton High School (Nicole's alma mater). One FaceTime date turned to four, with late nights spent laughing in their parents' basements. In July, they returned to the city for their first date in Nicole's neighborhood downtown. Scott brought Nicole white Lillies, both of them not having known that bud is for funerals. Their second date started out as playing tennis in Central Park, and turned to days exploring Scott's neighborhood uptown. Their third date was a week-long vacation with Scott's family on motorless Fire Island. Within months, they were traveling around the States: living in Airbnbs, working remotely, and visiting family along the way. As it turns out, jumping in too quickly was their recipe for success. Scott and Nicole returned to NYC and lived in Dumbo, Brooklyn, for two-and-a-half years before leaving the city for their adorable 1895 house in Connecticut. Now, their weekends are spent at the beach, Nicole's still doing yoga, and Scott has taken up gardening. Our wholesome life wouldn't be what it is without you in it.
