We met on Tinder! After talking for a few months via text, we finally had our first date at Brewers Alley in Downtown Frederick, MD. After about 4 dates, we decided to part ways (prematurely). In August of 2019 we gave one another a second chance, and this time everything fell into place. It took about 3 weeks of constantly being with one another to decide to start our relationship, and it was only one week after that that we exchanged "I love you's" for the first time. We found ourselves meeting each other's families and friends, and spending holidays together with them. By December we both knew we were meant to spend our lives together. We've said many times that both of us are extremely indecisive, but we have never been more sure about anything in our entire lives than we are about being with one another. It wasn't the butterflies or excitement that lead us to that realization, but the comfort, peace, and certainty we felt with one another. Four months. Fours months was all it took to decide on forever with one another!
In December of 2019, Rick bought my engagement ring with his best man, Ajay, and his sister, Nicole. After that Rick was on a mission to meet with my parents to ask for my hand in marriage, while simultaneously attempting to plan the proposal. Meeting with my parents right before Christmas and New Years proved much more difficult than expected. Rick originally planned to propose on New Year's Eve, then Valentine's Day. Both passed before speaking with my parents. He finally did ask them and they gave their blessing. Rick wanted to plan something super special, but then... quarantine happened. At that point we had no idea how long it would last, or when the next opportunity would be to make the proposal happen in an elaborate way. He had already waited a few months at this point as it was. We woke up on March 18th of 2020 and embraced in a long hug. He said, "I want to do a thing." He went and grabbed the ring and said "...just in case we don't survive the zombie apocalypse." Romantic right?! He got down on one knee and told me he loved me and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes and we enjoyed the excitement for a few moments. And then... work lol Now we have a funny/crazy story to tell our future kids about how mom and dad got engaged during a global pandemic. Through a year of such hardships for so many, we have been fortunate enough to find love in each other.
