While we wish we could celebrate with everyone in person on October 9, out of safety concerns for all of our guests, Logan and I have made the difficult decision to have a smaller wedding with those local to Georgia. All out-of-town guests are invited to attend the ceremony via Zoom under the "Details" tab. We would love for all who cannot attend in person to join us on Zoom! Love, Nicole & Logan
Logan and I met in the most iconic way possible for two high schoolers to meet, at Waffle House. Through mutual friends we spent one Sunday night together where he continued to make me laugh and I unloaded my guy drama on a random stranger I thought I would never see again. Then the snowpocalypse came through Georgia and we spent the following week talking and hanging out once the snow started to melt. Two weeks to the day we first met, Logan asked me out outside my house after several failed attempts throughout the night. Now after more than 3,285 days around the sun we get to share a lifetime together.
I knew the proposal was coming as Logan and I had been discussing marriage. He has always told me that I would know when it was going to happen, just not how and for my birthday he told me that we were going to go to Europe in October so I had a hunch. Once he told me we were going to Barcelona and Florence I wasn't sure if he was going to do it in Barcelona and have a beautiful memory in a city that was ours or if he was going to do it in Florence, my favorite city in the world. Barcelona came and went without a ring. We hit the ground running in Florence and I was in charge of the itinerary. Not knowing what his plan was and asking probing questions I got nothing from Logan and began to think that maybe he wouldn't do it or that I made this all up in my head. On our final day we had a lazy morning at the hotel and got dressed and headed to my favorite little sandwich shop for lunch. I was surprised by one of my dear friends, Averill, who is living abroad and met us at the shop. She said she was meeting her cousin and for us to hangout together. I immediately thought this was a lie but after a short time her cousin actually appeared. After agreeing to meet back up with them I thought now was the time to get into "the dress." When asking Logan if I should change he asked if I felt cute (I did) and that changing wasn't necessary. We met back up and crossed the Ponte Vecchio bridge and went to get wine and champagne to drink atop a popular hill overlooking the city. Once we made our way to the ledge to overlook the city Averill was taking test shots of us and I could tell Logan was nervous. Taking a deep breath he looked at me and I prepared myself for a lengthy speech. He took my hand and told me that he loved me and wanted to spend his life we me. He dropped to his knee and asked me to marry him. I said yes and a crowd that had formed clapped as he kissed me. The night progressed with lots of drinks, dinner and pastries from a midnight bakery. It was perfect.
Ive known Nicole was the one for me since early on in our relationship. Originally I wanted it all to be this huge surprise where I swept her away to some unknown locale but logistically that wasnt possible. So for her birthday I told her about the trip I was planning for us. After it all I still felt like I was missing something. I figured out that I had to have someone special to Nicole meet us for the proposal. I called on her dear friend Averill who graciously agreed to help me perfect this experience. Barcelona was great but I could tell she was approaching every turn like I was going to ask her. Finally the time came to leave for Florence. I began to get so nervous that I left the backpack with the ring in it on the airport seat! Luckily I was able to retreive it with no incident. After a couple of days in Italy the final day had come and I was paralyzed with fear and nervousness. We set out for lunch and our surprise rendezvous with Averill at Nicole's favorite sandwich shop. Averill had informed me earlier that week her cousin, Patrick, was joining us in Florence so after lunch we went to the Duomo and met up with him. We toured the city for the rest of the day and every time there was a moment to ask, I could not get Nicole in position without making my intentions obvious. The sun was setting on the last day of our trip and I still had yet to ask. We went up to the Piazzale Michaelangelo overlooking the city and I knew it was now or never. Everything fell into place and at dusk I finally got up the nerve and got her into postition to get on one knee and ask her to spend the rest of her life with me. In that moment it was just her and I. Everything surrounding us just fell away. After she accepted I stood up to find a crowd of people clapping and cheering. We celebrated the rest of the night with Averill and Patrick with food drinks and fun and shut the city down. It was the perfect end to a perfect trip and now I get to spend my life with the perfect woman!
