Our wedding dress code is dressy casual (between casual and semi-formal). We suggest dressier than work, but not as formal as black-tie or formal events. Please refrain from jeans, athleisure, or white dresses. Our wedding is in the fall, which tends to be mild in Illinois - we suggest bringing a sweater or shawl if it's chilly, as we will be outdoors under a pavilion for the ceremony. The reception is indoors. We would also kindly ask that you avoid colors traditionally reserved for the bride - whites, ivories, and creams.
Although we love your children, we have chosen an adults-only wedding day so we can account for limited space and to give all our guests the opportunity to celebrate and let their hair down. We hope you will understand our decision to make the wedding children-free (all invited guests will be 16+).
The best present to us is for you to be fully present on our special day. Our ceremony will be COMPLETELY unplugged so the photographers can get all their shots. We want to be able to look at our loved ones and see their faces instead of their cameras. There will be announcements before and during the ceremony. Feel free to use your phone during the reception by taking photos using the photo app.
We hope you can attend and enjoy our special day with us! In order to account for seats, meals, and favors, we want to have all the information we need by August 1st to give us time to plan and then rest before the special day. You will have plenty of time to log into the website and RSVP before the deadline.
Please note that our wedding is invitation-only due to limited venue capacity. If you received a plus one, they will appear under your name when you RSVP. If you think we missed someone in error, please email us at cookwedding217@gmail.com.
The ceremony will be outdoors and under a patio covering, and the reception will be indoors.
We have open seating at the ceremony, aside from the reserved first few rows. We will have carefully arranged seating for the reception at assigned tables.
The ceremony will start promptly at 3:00pm. We recommend guests arrive 30 minutes early for time to mingle and find a seat. If you happen to be late, someone will be there to let you know if they are still allowing guests into the ceremony or if you will need to wait until the ceremony ends. If that happens, you will still be able to attend the reception, so hang tight and we will see you there. Thank you for your understanding.
The Hickory Point Golf Center has plenty of parking at the entrance.
We plan to have a cash bar! Cocktail hour will follow the ceremony with light snacks and dinner is buffet-style. If you have dietary needs, please includes these on the RSVP or reach out to cookwedding217@gmail.com so we can keep track of those needs. We will have limited vegan and vegetarian options.
We do NOT want anyone driving under the influence. We recommend you ride share with friends who are sober to and from your accommodations. Decatur does not currently have reliable Uber, Lyft, or taxi.
