We're Hooked!

It’s January 2023. Nikki just scored a travel nursing contract in Palm Springs, CA. Fisher is living out his Cali beach-life dreams with Gigi in Huntington Beach. With days to kill prior to starting her travel contract, Tarah (one of Nikki’s besties) suggests a trip to Huntington Beach for a golf-themed pub-crawl with her friend Kate & pals. Duh, no brainer! Outfits were acquired and the two hit the road. The plan was to meet at Kate’s place, have a few drinks, and then Uber to the meeting spot. To everyone’s dismay, it was pouring rain outside, but the party must go on! Drinks started flowing, outfits were outfitting, and the gals were just waiting on one other person to get to Kate’s: Fisher. Like it was meant to be, Nikki headed down the stairs for another drink when Fish walked through the front door. Nikki was instantly smitten (but played it really cool) and would continue to have eyes on Fisher the rest of the day. Fisher, being the cool kid that he is, pretended to not be interested in Nikki, which in turn drove her nuts. Don’t worry guys, he came around later that evening, dropped the “not interested” facade, and asked Nikki for her phone number. Fast forward two months and now we're in Palm Springs. Tarah and Nikki are hosting Kate and all her Huntington Beach friends for a pool party. To Nikki’s delight, this included Fisher. After a couple of months of minimal communication and the occasional “like” on Instagram, Fisher had finally texted Nikki! Was he texting her simply because he was coming to her house? or was this just his excuse to finally reach out after being too scared? We may never know! But after a shenanigans-filled day in the sun and a few Smirnoff Ices later, Nikki and Fisher were hooked. They remained in constant communication and started commuting back and forth between Huntington Beach and Palm Springs. When Nikki’s travel nursing contract expired she knew she wanted to still be close to Fisher, so she opted to get a temporary nursing job in San Diego, CA. She packed her car and made the move. Love continued to bloom even through long distance. The two made it official in May and the rest is history! With Fisher making the move back east to Virginia, Nikki took a chance on love and would land in Richmond at the start of 2024. Through three address changes, two wrongfully towed vehicles, and one super wrongfully stolen car, their love would only grow stronger. One weekend in October before popping the question, Fisher would be sent into a tailspin when Nikki casually shared “I don’t think I want to get engaged this year!” He was frozen in his tracks. Refusing to let her steal his thunder, he would follow through with his plans anyways. Fisher led Nikki to believe they would be sipping wine and taking in the beautiful fall foliage in Charlottesville, VA. It was on stop number two at Veritas Vineyards that Fisher caught Nikki by surprise! SHE SAID YES!
