Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Nicole LaTourette and Camden Osborn
The Columbia River Gorge, a breathtaking natural wonder in the Pacific Northwest, is rich with history shaped by natural forces and human activity. Carved by Ice Age floods, it features dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, and diverse ecosystems. For thousands of years, the gorge has been home to Indigenous peoples, including the Chinook, Klickitat, and Wasco tribes, who relied on its abundant resources, especially salmon. It later became a key corridor to pioneers on the Oregon Trail. Today, the Columbia River Gorge is celebrated for its natural beauty, cultural heritage, and outdoor recreation opportunities. Guests can explore scenic hiking trails, visit iconic waterfalls, enjoy wine and beer in Hood River, or take a drive along the Historic Columbia River Highway. Outdoor enthusiasts will love windsurfing, fishing, and kayaking on the Columbia River. Whether seeking adventure or relaxation, the gorge offers something for everyone. Here are some of our recommendations.

This 620-foot two-tier waterfall is just a short walk from the parking lot, but be sure to take the short trail up to Benson Bridge for a truly breathtaking view. For a real challenge, hike up to the Multnomah Falls Upper Viewpoint. On a hot day — or after a steep hike — it’s refreshing to feel the mist coming off the waterfall.

Hiking and Waterfalls

Hiking and Waterfalls

There are so many hikes to choose from! If you want something easy, hike the Latourell Falls Trail or Dry Creek Falls. If you want more of a challenge, check out Angel's Rest or Dog Mountain. One of our personal favorites is Wahclella Falls :) Just to name some of the most popular Columbia River Gorge waterfalls: Latourell Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, Horsetail Falls, and Wahkeena Falls. There are plenty of others too, but these are the most convenient roadside falls off of Highway 30.

For all the days along the way
