We met the old-fashioned way—on a dance floor. It was a wedding in Austin, Texas. Nicole had just moved there from South Dakota, ready for something new. So naturally... she met a guy from South Dakota. Josh, who was living life on the road at the time, was just passing through for the wedding. Turns out the universe had other plans. After a few weeks, Nicole agreed to dinner. She insisted it wasn’t a date. It was. Josh had planned to leave Austin soon after, but kept “finding reasons” to stay, which allowed us to spend more time together. Then came 2020. Josh started a new job—only to be furloughed weeks later. Nicole followed suit shortly after. We decided to get out of town and hide out at Josh’s family cabin in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It was supposed to be a two-week stay. It turned into three months of slow mornings, long hikes, and figuring out what came next. That cabin—tucked away in the middle of nowhere—became a huge part of our story. So it only feels right that it’s where we’re getting married. We’ll be tying the knot in South Dakota, then celebrating with all of you at our reception a couple weeks later. We can’t wait to see you there.
