Madison has the largest farmer's market in the Midwest held every Saturday morning on the block around the capitol building. It is a must see if you want to experience some of the local culture! If you go, make sure to buy some fresh cheese curds. The more they squeak the fresher they are! We also highly recomend their flower selection and Stella's Cheese Bread.
If you are getting hungry for some local pizza, we recommend Ian's Pizza on the corner of State Street! Enjoy their wide variety of custom pizzas. Their local special, mac and cheese pizza, is one of their simpler options. But we also challenge you to order something wild! While you're there, make sure to take a stroll down State Street where you will see a bunch of local shops! If you walk all the way to the lake, you can explore the UW campus and enjoy Memorial Union Terrace where you can sit in colorful chairs and enjoy some people watching. Make sure to grab a scoop of locally made ice cream at the Daily Scoop. Wisconsin is dairy land! Make sure to enjoy our local ice cream! You won't be disappointed. :)
-Ice Age Trail - Trail that goes through all of WI (but there are some really nice sections in Verona) -Picnic Point - Isthmus out into the middle of Lake Mendota. When you get to the point, you will be surrounded on all sides by the lake (On the UW campus in Madison) - Devil's Lake - You can rent kayaks, swim, buy ice cream, or just walk around the lake (A bit more of a drive but worth it!) -Lake Kegonsa State Park - This is in Stoughton, the district where Rosie works!
- Elver Park (closest to the venue and my personal favorite course in the area, 18 holes) - Capital Springs (a little farther out but a nice course with beautiful sunsets, 18 holes)
-Icki Sticki (Verona) -Grace Coffee (Verona) -Kickback Cafe (Oregon) (this one is right by our new apartment and is our go-to) -Twisted Grounds (Madison) -Wonder State Coffee (Madison) -Ancora Cafe and Bakery (Madison) -Le C's Patisserie And Tea House (Madison)
This is where Nic works! It has a really neat campus with self-tour visiting hours. It has over 20 buildings, each with unique themes. Make sure to visit the Lord of the Rings themed conference room "The Shire". Enjoy Star Wars themed "Cantina". Also enjoy buildings themed after "Alice and Wonderland", "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", and skip down the yellow brick road to "Oz". Nic works on the third story of the building called “Mystery” which is a mansion-themed building with a hidden conference room behind a bookshelf!
One of our first “successful” dates happened here. This is where Nic first really fell for Rosie… after Rosie let him win their round of mini golf ;) the indoor course has a flair of all the local Madison landmarks while the two outdoor courses give a range of creative putt putt holes with their Farmland and California themes.
