We met back in those awkward teenage years—side fringes, Nokia E63s, and loads of late-night drives in Macca’s trusty ’94 Mitsubishi Triton. What started as mates, with all the usual banter, laughs, and Macca’s runs, slowly turned into something more. Although Nicola always suspected Macca had a crush way before he actually worked it out. Then one night after a few drinks at the Hoey Moey, something clicked. While Nicola was out living her best single life, Macca realised that his “just a mate” was actually the one. So, in classic Macca style, he made a spontaneous move — nervous, maybe a bit tipsy, and with Steve in the front seat driving them home. Since then, we’ve pretty much grown up side by side — from high school and uni, to jobs, a long-distance phase, moving in together, and going from daydreaming about the future to actually building it. These days, Nicola’s fully on board with Macca’s fishing obsession, and Macca (mostly) tolerates Nicola bringing home surprise pets — although Alfie and Murphy have definitely earned their keep. Then came Queenstown in 2023, when Macca finally dropped to one knee. What sounded like a 5.6 earthquake was actually just Sam Dawson screaming her head off from the Airbnb. This day isn’t just about us getting hitched — it’s about celebrating everyone who helped us get here. From nudging Macca to make the first move, to all the laughs, advice, and support along the way, we’re so grateful. We’re just stoked to bring everyone together to celebrate the story so far — and all the people who’ve been part of it.
