Nicola and I met in 9th grade. How? No one remembers, but let's just say God brought together two freshmen who would become lifelong friends. Between cramming for AP Chemistry, impromptu road trips, and celebrating each other's major milestones, Nicola and I have shared countless memories over the years.

Groomsman

We have been friends since childhood. Our parents met almost 30 years ago when my family moved to the Detroit area. As one of the first Nigerian families that we met, our two families created a lifelong friendship including creating cultural groups, sharing family time as one family, and seeing multiple children get married.

2001 in the halls of Renaissance H.S. is where I met a lifetime friend. We have been rocking together for 18 years. From ROTC, high school graduation, college exams, epic spring breaks, kissing frogs, having my son, grad school, homebuying, starting businesses, and getting married we have been there for each other through it all. She sometimes knows me better than I know myself. I can truly say that Kolla is the sister that I never had. As she prepares to marry Chijioke I wish them nothing but the best. I love you both and may God bless your union.

I met Chijioke 30 years ago this coming fall, when we attended third grade together at Burton International School. That makes him my oldest friend -- one of the only people still in my life who isn't a family member who can speak intelligently about what I've been like in every aspect of my existence post-toddlerhood, and I can do the same with him. He was the Best Man at my wedding, and he's the last of my close friends to take the plunge. I look forward to "behaving myself" at his wedding.

Bridesmaid

I met Nicola while attending WMU and spoke in passing. Nicola and I established our friendship in while rushing for Phi Sigma Pi in 2006/2007. After that our friendship was concrete. We hung out, partied, exchanged personal details/secrets and traveled together. She is not only a friend but a Sister from another Mister to me. I love her dearly and look forward to creating more memories with her, even if that means we have to include our husbands and children.

Groomsman

I met Chijioke early 2002, in which we were both trying to join “Omega Psi Phi” Fraternity incorporated. Chijioke a student at The University of Michigan and I was a student at Eastern Michigan University. We started hanging out more as roommates in the “Que mansion” in 2002. That year our friendship was tested during the “King of the Yard” Competition; the “King of the Yard” is a survival of the fittest challenge among the brothers, in which the winner becomes the leader and could implement his ideology on the achievement of the student body. Chijioke and myself was the last two to survive the competition, the only thing that survived that battle was a stronger bond between us. Congratulation on finding a beautiful girl, that makes you happy and stronger by the day. ROO to 02!

Nicola and I first met in the 9th grade when we had JROTC class together. I remember being relieved to meet someone who shared my no-nonsense attitude and witty sense of humor. After 14+ years of friendship, we have seen each other through major life events, struggles, high points, and low points. Now at this moment, I am excited to witness the next phase of her life with Chijioke and I am extremely honored and grateful to be a part of her union to her soulmate.

Tony Davis

Groomsman

I met Chijioke at the University of Michigan. We are both members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Our fraternity created a social structure where men like us could mature and become prepared for real life. Our commonalities helped us maintain a friendship over the years. Chijioke has always had a open door policy with his friends. Choke is good bruh, as well as a proud member and asset of his culture.

Bridesmaid

The year? 2001. The place? Renaissance High School. The how? I don't actually remember... but things that have left a lasting impact- your focus, vision and determination, sense of duty to family and friends, go-with-the-flow attitude, b-day closeness!, and always down for a board game or a trip!

Groomsman

Chijioke and I met freshman year at undergrad at University of Michigan. Being young and dumb, everybody was hanging out trying to see what was what. I knew he had a style when he went and put on the same shirt that I had on (ALL DAY) headed to some freshman parties. Him from Cass and me from Renaissance, I was instantly like “oh-no”. Sophomore year we got to know each other a lot better in our pursuit of joining Omega Psi Phi. He was the Ace and me being the Tail. Through the years at undergrad and afterwards, nothing changed not even his phone number. You may not know it, but I learned from you as a man and as a Man of Omega. Much love Bruh. Future congratulations to both you and Nicola.
