Nicki and Kev’s worlds first collided on an August afternoon during their Freshman Year welcome week at UW-Madison. After a day of exploring campus, Nicki arrived back at her college dorm, Sellery, and eagerly ventured up 2 floors to Andy Miller’s dorm room to share a story and catch up. After a quick hello - the dorm room’s wall decor caught Nicki’s eye. On it hung the SAME EXACT Drake poster that Nicki had just hung up in her and Erica’s dorm room. Nicki knew Andy was more of a 21 pilots - country guy, so the Drake poster couldn’t be his. She asked - “Woah, Andy. Who hung this up?” Out of the side of the narrow dorm room, Kev poked his head out from under his lofted bed with his megawatt smile (as Nicki’s grandma says.) “It’s mine - you like Drake?” This commenced an exhilarating conversation sharing our love for Drake’s music including their favorite songs and upcoming concerts. After that point - Nicki and Kev were simply friendly familiar faces, saying hi around Sellery and at parties. A year later - Nicki and Kev became single around the same time. Kev and Andy’s house was the place to be for Sophomore parties. Kev - to no-one’s surprise - was usually in charge of music. Guess whose requests he’d often take? Nicki’s. Yes, lot’s of Drake was played. Kev and Nicki started to break out of the friend zone and spent a ton of time together studying, partying, going on jogs, and trying to align our walk commutes together in between classes. They were not quick to put a label on their relationship. Fun fact - they even said “I love you” before they were officially boyfriend and girlfriend. Finally, in the fall of Junior year, on Nicki’s 21st birthday at the Nitty Gritty, Kevin asked Nicki to be his girlfriend. She said YAS. This was purely the start of the exciting life they’d share together traveling the world, living in multiple states, loving on their cat, Boujee, and enjoying the simple things in life like Netflix and take-out.
