We were both members of a Facebook group for single veterans. We would comment and "like" each other's posts here and there, but the sparks didn't fly until a friend request was sent! From that day until now, for over 2 years, we have not gone a single day without being in touch with each other, no matter the distance or circumstances. Who would have ever imagined that a Southern girl and a Yankee boy would eventually find each other and fall in love, all thanks to social media!

Josh had been away from home due to work but would travel home as often as his work scheduled allowed. Finally, on April 16th, 2019, Josh flew back to Northwest Arkansas for an extended time at home. When Nicki arrived home from work with her 10 year old son, Corbin, Josh quickly left the house with Corbin to perform a secret "adventure." Unbeknownst to Nicki, Josh was taking Corbin with him to pick up the engagement ring. Once it dawned on Corbin that Josh was going to propose to his mom, he was speechless for the first time in his life! Josh arrived home with a bottle of champagne and suggested that they have a drink to celebrate Josh's return home. Corbin, peeking from the hallway, watched as Josh got down on one knee and asked Nicki to marry him! Through laughter and happy tears, Nicki said yes! A new, united family was in the making!
