Brazil's currency is the "Real" (pronounced "he-au"). Most places in Rio will accept all major credit/debit cards, just be sure to let your bank know you will be traveling in Brazil. If you want to convert Dollars to Reais, you can do so at the airport, or simply use a local ATM in town. We recommend converting a small amount of cash to have on hand, and use cards whenever possible.
