How We Met

December 4, 2013

Nick's Version: First and foremost thank God for Nichole! God blessed me with more than I deserve and I am thankful for her everyday. She makes me want to elevate my standards. Watching her give birth to our child was the most humbling experience of my entire life. I’m excited to be a husband and a father! Alright, so back to how we met... In 2013, a lounge called St. Genevieve hosted a young professionals mixer every Wednesday night. Nichole was sitting at the bar with her friend Dianna and I sat next to her as I waited for my friend Allen to arrive. Nichole turns to me and asks “What are you drinking?”. I thought "well this isn't the best pick-up line I've heard, and this is a little aggressive, but I'll entertain it." We ended up talking the rest of the night! Nichole's Version: It was a Wednesday night and my friend Dianna and I decided to go to Happy Hour at St. Genevieves. We were sitting at the bar and decided to play a game that whoever sat in the open seat next to either of us, we would guess what they were drinking and then ask the person if we were right (Clearly it was a slow night). Nick came and sat next to me and we attempted to guess his drink and then I turned to him and asked what was he drinking. It was a whiskey neat. Once he turned around, I was like wait a minute, he's attractive, let me keep talking. There are two main things I remember from that night; 1) Nick said he was going to close the bar down because he had nothing to do the next day. Seeing as it was a Wednesday, I interpreted this to mean he didn't have a job. 2) Nick must have been feeling the effects of his cognac neat because he started dancing. The thing is he started dancing like it was 2001 (Think Chingy or St. Lunatics!) and asked if I wanted to dance. I politely declined. Despite this, we spent the rest of the night talking and laughing. Nick is my partner in crime, my lover and my best friend and he has never asked me to be anything other than my organic self.

For all the days along the way
