Miramare Castle, or Castello di Miramare, is a stunning historical landmark located near Trieste, Italy. Overlooking the Gulf of Trieste, this 19th-century castle was built for Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria and his wife, Carlotta of Belgium. The castle was designed by the architect Carl Junker in a mix of Gothic Revival and Renaissance styles. This is a 20 minute drive from Trieste, you can arrive by taxi and have the museum call you a cab back to Trieste!
Take a ferry from Trieste to have lunch and explore Muggia! An Italian town about 20 minutes from Trieste that borders Slovenia.
