Our Registry

Update: October 1, 2020

As planned, we are getting married in a small and intimate ceremony on Friday, October 16th. We are deeply saddened at not being able to share this special moment with all of you, however remain so excited for the big party when it is safe to celebrate! Many of you have kindly asked if we are registered. Your love and support are gift enough, however if you are feeling particularly generous, we've put together a couple of registries with some items we'd love to have as newlyweds. You can find them either here on Zola (check the "Registry" tab), and also on MyRegistry.com (just search for "Linda Duong" or "Nick Lynes"). We wish you all continued to safety and health, and can't wait to see you all soon! Love, Nick & Lin

Change of Plans

COVID-19 Update: July 7, 2020

Family & Friends, We hope your dancing shoes can wait a little longer. In an abundance of caution regarding COVID-19, we’ve made the heartbreaking decision to cancel the gathering of friends and family for our wedding. We’re utterly excited to celebrate our union with you all, but with so many unknowns, it’s of the utmost importance that our loved ones stay safe. And although the pandemic puts a hold on our celebration with you, we will still be getting married in a small ceremony on our planned date of October 16, 2020. We’re just too excited and can’t wait any longer to be hitched! Our hope is that once the pandemic crisis has passed us, we can throw a memorable shindig with our loved ones. Until then, stay safe. Please feel free to visit our website, which will remain active and updated. Deepest love, Lin & Nick

How We Met

The Swipe That Changed Our Lives

We met on Tinder. Yup. We said it. It's out there. At the beginning though, we would joke with friends that we met at a Panda Express (Nick's guilty pleasure) that happened to also sell donuts (Lin's sugary dough of choice). I mean, How else would we have met? We matched on the app in March 2017 and exchanged a couple of snore worthy text messages before it quickly fizzled into thin air. About a month later, Nick was bored at work and thought, "Hey! What happened to that girl from Tinder with that cute, goofy smile?" Figuring it couldn't hurt, he shot over a captivating, edge your seat text. "Hey! What've you been up to?"" Meanwhile, Lin was shopping at her favorite thrift store and quickly responded, "Who's this?" It was that cute lawyer with the glasses! The rest is history! Well, kind of. This second encounter went a lot better. We hit it off on text, and the banter took on a life of it's own. We met a week later at The Cannery in Newport Beach and shared shishito peppers and a rainbow roll. Although it was fun, the next day Lin told Nick, "I think we should just be friends. I think we are looking for different things in our lives" (this was code for, "this frat boy is too young for me."). Nick said, "Sure! Okay! But do you want to hang out on Tuesday?" (translation: Suuuuure, we can be friends. Just wait.) As you might've guessed, his patience and cool demeanor turned "friends hanging out" into full blown dating. Spring turned into summer, and we fell in love under warm sunny skies with our toes dug into the cool Newport sand.

We Go Together

Like Lamb and Tuna Fish

In our three years together, we have shared adventures near and far, held two-person dance parties in our living room, and have spent countless weeknights talking and burning dinner (when Lin is in charge of cooking) in our tiny kitchen. Together we've perfected the art of executing one kick-ass picnic, and can cover the entire square footage of the world's largest chili cook-off. Lin scratches Nick's back while he's driving on road trips, and Nick eats the mouthfuls of tortilla before handing her the meaty center of burritos. And, our puzzle was complete when our snuggly and sad-eyed beagle Charlie came to live with us. We are a couple of the luckiest goobers on earth.
