Flash back to 2001, though they don’t remember too much, this is where their story began, in Mrs. Cronin’s 1st grade class. Jump ahead a few years and both Maddy and Nick find themselves in Mrs. Mitchell’s 5th grade class. Maddy fondly remembers taking care of the class turtle, and Nick loved his role in the school store, though the one thing neither of them can forget was the outbreak of Salmonella that took over the entire school the end of that year. In 7th grade they parted ways, when Maddy went to Montrose. As luck would have it, they randomly become Facebook friends in 2010, which would end up playing a big role when they reconnect in 2017. After graduation both Maddy and Nick find themselves in San Francisco. Maddy notices Nick is in SF and decides to reach out over facebook asking if he wanted to grab coffee. Nick one upped that offer and invited Maddy to his company holiday party happening later that week. The party must have gone well because a month after that they started dating. Three months later LinkedIn told Nick to pack his bags and that he was headed to Chicago. The next year was filled with lots of flights, weekend trips, and facetimes. Though Maddy loved any excuse to hop on a plane, she couldn’t have been happier when Nick got a new job that would be bringing him back to SF!
On a weekend trip to Denver for Nick's birthday, the two had planned on having some photos taken in the mountains. Nick knew this would be the perfect opportunity to pop the question, plus when else was he going to trick Maddy in to getting dressed up during Covid? Nick had orchestrated the whole thing with the photographer before they arrived and 30 minutes in to the shoot he got down on one knee. Maddy couldn't believe it, he had thoroughly convinced her there was no chance he was going to propose. Let's just say, Maddy was wishing she had gotten Nick more than just a pair of socks for his birthday! (To be fair they did have their pup Callie's face on them)
