Nick and I met in Freshman English class at Wilde Lake High School back in 2006. I didn't notice him at first, but then realized the same spunky, blonde kid was in my Science class too! He was always the life of the party (and still is), but his charm didn't fool me at first. You see, back then I was still very shy-a bit introverted. Nick and I became close when he had a crush on a mutual friend of ours. I tried to wing man him and they dated briefly, but then I realized I was starting to like him more than just a friend. He might be the first to tell you otherwise, but I had the guts to tell him that I was falling for him, at the time this was over AOL IM (instant messenger)! Not long after, we were waiting for our buses one day after school on January 26, 2007 when he was giving me a hug goodbye he blurted out "Will you be my girlfriend?" I was so shocked and excited that I missed my bus...but I think it's safe to say it was totally worth it! We dated all throughout high school and it wasn't long after that our teachers all caught wind of this. From then on we didn't have any more classes together, but you can bet your bottom that Nick took many bathroom breaks to try to come find me and peak through the window just to say a quick hello. I was adamant that come college it was important for us to have our own college experience. I found myself back in Maine at UNE and Nick at WVU. We made it work all throughout, a lot of thanks to Nick for making the trek almost every break he had to come visit. Fast forward after college I found myself back in the DMV while Nick was in PA, but it didn't take long for him to make his way back as well. We've been living in Glover Park now for almost two years together and to say that life is good would be an understatement. We've managed distance, moving, job changes, and graduate school. I couldn't ask for a better partner in life!
