As of June 1st, Montana is moving into Phase 2 of reopening! This is great news for many reasons! We will have a social distancing plan in place for the ceremony and reception, but we do not have to worry about guest limits! Gotta love an outdoor venue! 👍👍 All hotels and rentals that want to be open, can be! That means more lodging will be available. We have a small block of rooms at the Days Inn & Suites in Lolo, which is about 30 minutes from the venue. Check out the accommodations page for more information! Airbnb and VRBO is a great option as well, with tons of cool places to stay in the area! Also, businesses can operate at 75% capacity, which means more to do around here, including some awesome breweries, restaurants, and shops. Overall, Montana is opening up just in time! 🙂 Again, we just want to say again that we totally understand if you are uncomfortable traveling and attending a larger group event at this time. We will be setting up some type of live stream of the ceremony if you cannot make it! We love you all and cannot wait to celebrate with you in person or virtually! 💜

We were both working at Rock Bottom Brewery in downtown Milwaukee. I got to know Nick when I was very busy wrapping up my final semester at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I really enjoyed working with Nick. He was always making me laugh, and he quickly became my favorite person to work with. I usually was bartending and we would joke with each other from across the bar, making it pretty obvious that we were interested in one another. The only problem was I had a personal policy of not dating at work, which I told Nick. A few times... But, thank goodness he was persistent! One night, Nick and I were out with a group of coworkers and we ended up alone in a booth while our friends were singing karaoke. We talked for what could have been all night, ignoring the off-key singing and bar shenanigans. He asked me out again, and this time I said yes. Thanks for not taking no for an answer, Nick.💜
It all started at Rock Bottom Brewery in Milwaukee. I started working there in the summer of 2012. It was my 3rd or 4th shift when I first met Jess and I instantly knew that I wanted to date this beautiful human. That year, I spent every moment I could getting to know her. I would even check the schedule and see when she was working, then attempt to swap shifts with someone. About a year later, I found myself in a booth with her at our favorite karaoke stomping grounds, The Garage. We spent the entire night in that booth "getting to know each other", if you know what I mean. The day after, I asked her out on a date. Turns out, Jess had a "no dating co-workers policy". Lame - I know, but this was merely a speed bump in the ultimate pursuit of love. It only took me vulnerably asking Jess out 7 or 8 times before she finally said yes. After that, the rest is history.
We were at Big Sky Resort in Montana on a ski trip with Mary and Steve, Nick's mom and step-dad, as well and Jeff, Jenny, Jake, and Maija. It was our second day of skiing and the conditions could not have been better. After a full morning, we went back to the condo for lunch. Everything seemed ordinary, except Nick, the king of pocket burritos for a successful day of skiing, didn't eat lunch. Odd, but not on Jess's radar. Neither was the inconspicuous backpack that Steve now had. We were making our way down to the lift on a beautiful catwalk trail. It was snowing again and Big Sky was showing off. Nick pulled off to the side of the run and told Jess to take off her skis. Okay, now things were weird. Nick knew how much Jess struggled to get her skis on! But, the view was spectacular... We made our way to the edge of the run, through the powder, where the view opened up. Nick popped the question right there. Next thing we knew, Mary was there with a noisemaker, followed by the rest of the group. Steve's backpack was full of celebration supplies, including champagne and party favors. The moment was filled with hugs, smiles, and happy tears. We spend the rest of the day with engagement party favors strapped into our helmets, skiing and reveling at the moment. Big Sky is now a very special place for us.
