Our Story

Nick and Gina first crossed paths in 2020 working at the same accounting firm in Chicago. Both were auditors, and through countless department meetings, office hallways, and work happy hours, they had noticed each other, but never quite had the guts to say hello. Fast forward to Fall 2021, and fate decided to intervene: Gina was reassigned to Nick’s audit team, and Nick was tasked with onboarding her. Long hours, weekend work, and endless spreadsheets gave them plenty of time to talk, and soon, account reconciliations turned into conversations about life, hobbies, and dreams. They became fast friends and the chemistry was undeniable. Gina found excuses to schedule one-on-one “meetings” just to spend more time with Nick. Nick responded in kind, playing little office pranks just to see her laugh. Finally, at a holiday work party—fueled by a little liquid courage—they admitted they liked each other more than friends. From that moment, they were inseparable… though they kept it a secret until Summer 2022. (Gina leaving the firm may have made HR breathe a sigh of relief.) Once out in the open, they dove headfirst into sharing their worlds. Nick brought Gina to every Milwaukee Bucks game she could tolerate, and Gina became Nick's sous chef in the kitchen. Gina introduced Nick to her favorite city, New Orleans and then Baltimore to cheer for the Ravens. They especially bonded over Gina’s dog, Figg (Nick's first love), spending summer days at the dog beach teaching him to swim. By Summer 2023, they took the next big step: moving in together—and bringing home a second furry friend, Olive, to complete their pack. Nick proposed on April 24th, 2025, in Rome, Italy. Sharing an immense love for pasta, they chose Italy as their first trip outside the United States. Nick proposed at an orange tree garden overlooking the city at sunset. After a comical battle with tourists for the perfect spot—and a wet bench mishap that had Gina laughing through happy tears—she said “yes.” Nick and Gina didn’t plan on falling in love, or fighting with tourists and wet benches during their engagement, but their willingness to laugh through it all has made their love even stronger. Nick and Gina are thrilled to continue building their life together in Chicago. They can’t wait to celebrate their marriage with friends and family, in the city where their story truly began.
