Things To Do

Here are some activities to consider while you're on Oahu (although piggy-backing a trip to another island is also not bad idea!) Check the photo gallery for more detailed photos.
Kuli‘ou‘ou Ridge Trailhead

Kuli‘ou‘ou Ridge Trailhead

Kuli'ou'ou Valley Trail, Honolulu, HI 96821

Get AllTrails 4.7 miles 1650 ft. of vertical rise It's out and back hike along a ridge with a view of the windward side of the island and Honolulu at the end. Well maintained trail with street parking. Rated moderate to difficult. Lots of stairs at the end. As with all tropical hikes, bring lots of water, sunscreen, hiking shoes/boots, and friends. More detailed map in the gallery. Consider going to Kona Brewing afterwards to treat yourself.

Rent a Moped: Waikiki Mopeds

Rent a Moped: Waikiki Mopeds

2449 F, Kūhiō Ave., Honolulu, 96815

Mopeds are very common in Honolulu. They can be a fun and easy way to explore town. If you have a free day where you want to try some restaurants, a hike, or a museum outside of Waikiki, you may find renting a moped is cheaper than Uber. You do not need a special license, and they rent helmets too.

Makapu'u Point Lighthouse Trailhead

Makapu'u Point Lighthouse Trailhead

Makapuu Lighthouse Road, Honolulu, HI 96825

This is a paved path to a coast and lighthouse view. 2.5 miles 500 ft vertical rise Casual clothes will be fine, but no shade. Bring water, sunscreen, and hats. Parking lot at the trailhead.

Kaka'ako Brewery Tour

Kaka'ako Brewery Tour

328 Cooke St, Honolulu, 96813

Kaka'ako is one of our favorite parts of town. Once a warehouse district, it has been invaded by hipsters and residential high-rises. This cool part of town offers lots of street art, food, and breweries. If you want to do a brewery tour, we recommend you visit these four spots, all within walking distance of each other. Honolulu Beerworks Aloha Beer Company Waikiki Brewing (Kaka'ako location) Hana Koa Brewing Co. (Bonus spots: Village Bottle Shop and Tasting Room, Lokahi Brewing Company)

Maunawili Falls Hike

Maunawili Falls Hike

HI 96734

Traveling between the windward side and Honolulu on HWY 61/Pali Highway, duck off at the look out and park. Do not leave valuables in plain sight in the car as it is a high-theft area. This trail contains: 6.3 miles 2,150 ft vertical rise Out and back with waterfall at the end, can swim and cliff jump if you wish. Trail also contains beautiful views of the mountains. As with any tropical hike, bring lots of water, sunscreen, hiking shoes/boots, bug spray, and friends. More detailed map for the trailhead in the gallery.
