Nicholas and Sofia met one day as lifeguards when Nicholas randomly picked up someone else’s shift in Lake Arrowhead. Sofia accidentally scared him when he walked out of the restroom, which quickly became their first funny memory together. It had rained earlier that day, so the pool was empty at first, giving them time to talk and get to know one another. As the shift went on and people came and went, Nicholas and Sofia continued talking, enjoying that shift way more than anticipated. After the shift ended, Nicholas remembers getting into his car and just smiling the whole drive home, realizing the day had been a lot more meaningful than he expected. Even though Sofia technically got Nicholas’ number first through the manager for “work related” reasons, it did not take long for those messages to turn into something a lot less about work. Those conversations eventually led Nicholas to visit Sofia many times in Athens while he was still at Auburn. That summer lifeguard shift turned into something neither of them expected, but both are very glad they found. Since then, Nicholas and Sofia have both graduated from the University of Georgia. Nicholas is pursuing his CPA as an accountant, and Sofia will be attending the University of Georgia again for the School of Law this coming August. Together, they are excited for this next chapter and everything still to come.
