Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Nick DesMarais and Sammi Handler
Below we included a list of some of our favorite activities and restaurants that are close to the wedding! There's also the more classic LA tourist activities like shopping on Rodeo Drive, viewing the Hollywood Sign, visiting the Griffith Observatory and joining a celebrity homes bus tour. Text Sammi or Nick if you want recommendations for any of those activities! If you're looking for broader California recommendations for before or after our wedding weekend, we suggest taking a drive up to Santa Barbara or Ojai. Monterey and Carmel are also stunning spots further north.
Self Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine

Self Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine

17080 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90272

This is one of the most peaceful, beautiful places in the Palisades. It's made even more special that it's still standing after the Palisades Fire. Reservations are required to visit.

The Getty Villa

The Getty Villa

17985 Pacific Coast Highway, Los Angeles, CA 90272

We love the Getty as well, but the Getty Villa is a stunning spot close to our wedding activities. Enjoy incredible views and amazing Greek and Roman art.

The Apple Pan

The Apple Pan

10801 West Pico Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90064

An old Handler family favorite. It originally opened in 1947 and still serves one of the best burgers in Los Angeles. Sammi and Nick's favorite is the Hickory burger, and get extra hickory sauce for the fries.

Point Dume

Point Dume

Malibu, CA 90265

One of the most stunning beaches in Malibu. Point Dume shows the best of what Southern California has to offer: the rugged coastline, sprawling cliffs and a killer view. Sammi and Nick love how majestic the ocean feels out here. Plus, there's a nice cafe nearby. Paradise Cove is another great beach option in Malibu.

Michael's

Michael's

1147 3rd Street, Santa Monica, CA 90403

Michael's is a staple of LA's Westside, and a great place to go if you're looking to indulge in true California cuisine. Some of the best restauranteurs and chefs were trained at Michael's (Nancy Silverton, Brooke Williamson, Roy Yamaguchi, the list goes on), so if you're a foodie like Nick and Sammi, you'll definitely want to come for dinner.

Will Rogers State Park

Will Rogers State Park

Will Rogers State Park Road, Los Angeles, CA 90272

This is a great spot for hiking, and has reopened since the Palisades Fire. Some trails may still be closed, though, so check before going to see what's open. There's wonderful views of the mountains and the ocean. As restoration is ongoing, it's important for people to visit to support the regrowth! Will Rogers State beach is another beach that's nearby and great for tanning or just taking a walk.

Don Antonio's

Don Antonio's

11755 West Pico Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90064

One of the Handlers' favorite spots for Mexican food. Everything is great -- the margaritas, the enchiladas, the tacos, the burritos, etc., etc. Parking can be difficult but it's so worth it. Don Antonio's was also the setting for several scenes in The Hills, for any fans of the early 2000s MTV era.

Brentwood Country Mart

Brentwood Country Mart

225 26th Street, Santa Monica, CA 90402

This is a great area to shop, eat or just hang out. Some great restaurants include the Farmshop (excellent breakfast), Caffe Luxxe (great coffee) and Sweet Rose Ice Cream (fantastic ice cream). One of our favorite stores, PaliSkates, has relocated to this area after the fires. PaliSkates is a wonderful small business that we're so glad has found a new home.

Malibu Farm Pier Cafe

Malibu Farm Pier Cafe

23000 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA 90265

Sammi and Nick love this spot for the breathtaking views and great food. There's usually a line but the wait gives you time to take pictures and take in the ocean air.
