In August 2019, Nicholas moved from Kansas City to start graduate school in Paris. A week later, Nona moved from San Francisco to start graduate school in Paris. They unknowingly settled into the same apartment building in the Marais. Within the first hour of Nona landing in Paris, their landlord, Monsieur Fevre, introduced her to the American nextdoor. Nicholas opened the door, with Copper, his 100lb Chesapeake Bay-Labrador mix standing by his side, and gave Nona the wifi code. They went to dinner later that night and realized they were going to the same school! They spent hours talking and went to IKEA together the next day. After many romantic dinners at French cafés and walks along the Seine, they soon realized they couldn't be just neighbors and started their journey together.

After being in quarantine together for a few months in the South of France, they decided to move into an apartment together in Paris in Summer 2020.
In summer 2020, they added a new addition to their family, Abricot, the miniature poodle!

Nona and Nicholas got their first (tiny) Christmas tree together to fit in their small Paris apartment.
After Copper passed away, Nicholas and Nona got a new puppy to keep Abricot company. Meet Myrtille! The pomsky AKA destroyer of worlds.
After two years of graduate school during the pandemic, Nicholas and Nona graduated with MFAs! Nicholas got his degree in New Media and Technology and Nona in Photography and Image-Making.
Nona finally got to visit Kansas City, Nick's hometown!
Nicholas proposed to Nona in Paris overlooking the Eiffel Tower before they moved to Ireland. (She said YES!)
Nicholas and Nona moved to Dublin via Ferry in August 2021. It was a windy ride!
Nicholas and Nona are now happily settled in Dublin, their new home city.
