In A Galaxy Not So Far Away…

We are here to celebrate the union of Kelli Eitel and Nick Russell. The happy couple wants to thank everyone for having a part in their story. The couple wants to encourage you to be a little nerdy, a little wild, and have fun in all that you do.

The Proposal

Decorah, IA March 21st 2026

After years of Kelli saying, “Just throw the ring at me.” (They had been together for 8 years.) That’s exactly what he did. On a weekend trip to Decorah, after they settled into their hotel, Nick said he had a surprise for Kelli and pulled out the necklace he had gotten her for their first Valentine’s Day. Attached was his class ring. Kelli's Brain broke. She kept saying, "This isn’t what I think it is so what are you trying to tell me?" This went on for a good minute or two before Nick said: “How does the song go… Take my name and make it yours”. To say it finally clicked was an understatement. They spent the rest of the trip calling family and friends, spending time together, going on an absurdly long hike (We are talking 11.5 miles, half of which was through cornfields. Yes, Kelli is still salty.), and counting down the days till Kelli's engagement ring would arrive.

Just Three Little Words

Le Roy, IL. September 15th 2017

It was 2017, and Kelli missed spending time with her "family," the Russells. Holly had moved, and it had been a year since she had seen them, so she texted Nick asking if she could visit. Fast forward a month, and they were inseparable, spending lots of time together and going to every small town football game together, leaving every night at halftime because of Nick's job. One of those nights, Nick and Kelli were talking about how the girl he carpooled to work with seemed to be flirting. Kelli offered to be his fake girlfriend. He could just say he was dating her to maybe help let the girl down easy. Nick was a little too nice for his own good back then. But then Nick said three words that shocked Kelli. "Why Fake It?" Of course, it took Kelli a whole week and another book-worthy moment to be on the same page. Watching him drive away, headed to work for the night, she realized she wanted this. And so before she even got into her car, she texted him that she had arrived at the party. A joke they had shared over the prior few weeks, as it seemed like everyone else knew they were meant to be together except her. With those three little words, there have been 10 amazing years of adventures, love, growth, and now a whole lifetime to explore.
