We met online - on Hinge - we texted for a few weeks - maybe even over a month. I was eager to meet him in person, he was a bit nervous. We discussed our dating nerves and agreed to meet for coffee in the morning so we could 'get it over with' and not freak out all day. He let me take charge and plan our date which helped put me at ease. Our first date was at Hyperion Coffee in Downtown Ypsilanti. He was an absolute gentleman, opening doors, paying, carrying our coffees and treats. Sitting and talking is awkward so after about 30 minutes, I suggested we walk to a park by the Huron River. He was playful and walked across some rocks in the river while I was sure he was going to slip and fall in. He saw the HUGE yellow Adirondack chair so we climbed up and I slid HARD into the chair…awkward…and he made sure I was OK. He was so focused on me and our conversation- amazing eye contact, but I got awkward again and said “Are you trying to kiss me?!” His response was “No, but I’d love to.”….so yeah we smooched on our first date. We eventually decided to leave and continue the date by grabbing some lemonade from the store, holding hands while walking through the park. When the date ended we hugged but he held me and I felt our chemistry. He suggested we go kayaking next and that is how our story began….
