Bride
Nichel Dunlap is a native of Charlotte, 38 years of age. She is the daughter of Joshua and Betty Johnson. The thing she prides most is God is the head of her life. She was raised by her grandmother, Estelle Dove, whom will be watching from above. The love she has for her future husband, Shannon Thompson, is a love that was placed in her heart from above. In November it will be expressed below. This will be the biggest day of her life outside of the birth of her only child, D'Nasia. She thanks God for each of you sharing in their Big Day. May God bless you and grant all of you traveling mercies. The birthmark the two share on their left shoulder in the shape of a heart is what drew and kept them all these years. What a blessing to marry the man you know to be your “Adam.”
Shannon Thompson

Shannon Thompson was born in New York and moved to Charlotte in his early childhood, he is 51. Shannon is the son of the late Tyrone and Linda Thompson. He was blessed to be raised in the same manner as his Bride by his amazing grandparents, the late Aloid and Janie Tucker. They poured into Shannon's future by blessing him with the means to better his education through collegiate learning. Later in life, Shannon became known as the “Mayor of Cherry,” where he and his family have resided for over 75 years. Shannon has been “Notorious” for throwing the biggest and longest parties in history. This will be his last Grand Party as he takes his vows before his family and friends to the woman God sent, made from his rib. Getting together is easy, being together is a task, staying is by Prayer.
Betty Johnson
Mother of the Bride
Betty Johnson, a Charlotte native is the reason why Nichel and Shannon have been able to last for 6 years, now headed to the altar. Her commitment to her husband for over 30 years has been the example and blueprint Nichel has followed thus far. The prayers she has sent up have kept Nichel in the worst of times and the best of times. The foundation has been laid and she is set on dancing the night away as she celebrates with her daughter on her new journey in life.
Joshua Johnson
Father of the Bride
Joshua Johnson, a Charlotte native has set the tone for Shannon. He has done his part and done it well in providing Nichel and her other siblings with a stable home, God as the head. As it says in Joshua, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Nichel has watched her daddy do just that over the years. Serve in the church faithfully and on his job for over 45 years. Walking his baby girl down the aisle will be one of his proudest moments yet. Come and witness as he places his daughter's hand into Shannon's.
Cordelia Pettice
Mother of the Groom
Cordelia Pettice is the Aunt of the Groom. Since the loss of his parents and grandparents, she has stepped up when the role has called for it with grace and dedication. Shannon is grateful for his aunt one of the few blood relatives he has near by to be by his side when needed. She is a retired educator and woman of class and finesse, who will no doubt represent with her best. We thank God for all the love that has been shared over the years.
John Pettice Sr.
Father of the Groom
John Pettice Sr., is the Uncle of the Groom standing in for his father, the late Tyrone Thompson. Shannon could not ask for a better man to be there for him on his behalf. He is a man committed to his family and set the example daily of what a man is supposed to be. He is a retiree that enjoys having lunch with friends and spending time with family. Shannon and Nichel are grateful to God for him opening his home and heart to them year after year. For that, they love him dearly.
Elder Chester F. Brown lll

Elder Brown lll is the Pastor of Mount Moriah and Shannon and Nichel's Spiritual Advisor. Elder Brown is a special man to have counseled Shannon and Nichel on several occasions and still look at them both with the same nonjudgmental and caring genuine love. His faith in God, and commitment to the ministry, and his family is one they are blessed to have overseen this through. There are no words for the part Elder Brown has played in the two journey's to the altar. We thank God for him daily and would not have another officiating over us. Elder Brown lll and First Lady Yolanda are sacrificing their anniversary weekend for us. We are destined for great success. Elder Brown baptized Shannon about two years ago and has played a huge part in getting us to the altar. Elder Brown we love you!

Elder T.W. Samuels is Pastor Emeritus of Mount Moriah Primitive Baptist Church. He holds a special place in the heart of the Bride. Nichel's early years of spiritual growth and understanding was administered by Elder Samuels. Elder has blessed D'Nasia and poured into the spirit of the Bride up until recently. He is held in high regard with over 40 years of marriage and over 50 years in the ministry. What a blessed time it will be to have him co- officiating along side Elder Brown lll. May God continue to bless him and keep him this day and all the days to come.
Jasmin House
Matron of Honor
Jasmin is an angel here on earth. She and the Bride are sisters from another mother. Her love and support during this process, words cannot describe. She is the wife of Groomsman John House, and the mother of two flower girls Kylee and Leela. The Bride and Groom thank God for her entire family. Jasmin is so devoted to family she will have to step back to ensure the blessing God has given them is well cared for. We thank God in advance for a safe and healthy entrance of our boy in October. We pray she will be ready to rock and roll on the 3rd. She is that special to us, we are saving her place on that day. None of this would have ever happened in the manner it did, had it not been for her selflessness and loyalty and loving spirit. We speak blessings and prosperity upon her entire family.

Maid of Honor, Clevevoya, is an ECU classmate of the Groom. A few years back, the Bride and Clevevoya met at homecoming. During one of Nichel and Shannon's moments in time, the doors were opened and instantly shut again (LOL).. Clevevoya and Michelle decided to wait the storm out and once calm returned everyone laughed and we all have been laughing ever since. Clevevoya holds a special place in the heart of the Bride. She is loved and adored and there are no words to the role she plays in Nichel's life. Shannon is amazing that he brings all types of women together, all from knowing him. Clevevoya we love you, thank you for sharing our big day. Everyone be sure to wish her Happy Birthday as she will celebrate her birthday on the 4th. How amazing is that to sacrifice her birthday weekend?

D'Nasia is the daughter of the Bride and Groom. They are so very proud of their beautiful Babygirl. D'Nasia and Nichel are very thankful to God for Shannon opening his heart and giving them a place they can call home. D'Nasia now has the two parent, God fearing home that so many of our young children lack and desperately need. They all are excited about this journey they are about to embark on. Shannon and Nichel could not have asked for a smarter, prettier and kinder child than the one they have. May God keep her in all the years to come.

This young lady here is a rare breed. Neither Latasha nor the Bride is quite aware of how this friendship started but it is on till the end of the time. Nichel adores her for her candor and loyalty. Latasha is the mother of the Junior Groomsman, Ja'Darius and Flower Girl, Aiyanna. Another representation of love and loyalty. Nichel is so grateful that God allowed their paths to cross. Nicole is an island angel that has graced the States with her presence. Nichel fell almost instantly for this gentle flower and free loving spirit. She is the wife of Usher, Theron and a sister to Nichel. There was no question when the time came to choose that she would not be standing for the Bride. Nicole is working to obtain her Chiropractic Certification and hardly comes up for air. Her devotion to family and her education is an attribute that exemplifies her beauty more. This day could never be what it will be without this beautiful queen in the role she is in. Tonia is near and dear to the heart of the Bride. They met a few years back in one of ECU's Homecoming. The Bride fell in love when she stood up against Shannon and pillows, necks, and a video camera with a much needed referee. This was a classic moment for those involved, one for the books. Tonia has been there when the Bride needed her even by her a few distances away. To have her standing for us is an indescribable feeling of gratitude. Blue is so true and brings nothing but love and loyalty to the friendship of her and the Bride. They are two days apart and the Saggitarius in them both is what draws their kin sisterhood. Amy is beautiful inside and out and Nichel is so blessed and grateful to the heavens above for sending angels such as Amy her way. Life has thrown Amy a few curve balls, one that some may know losing her mother at a young age is a curve Amy has had to live with. Lord Have Mercy, Ke' Ke in the building. There isn't enough room to write about this amazing woman. The Bride and Ke'Ke have a peculiar relationship, one that cannot be explained or understood. You may hear or see the two hollering and a few choice words being spoken, but then in a few minutes see them two embracing and hugging one another. Kisha is the life of any party and this day will be memorable no doubt. Nichel loves her with everything in her and her nieces and nephew. Life was not complete until she came into it. Juliette and Nichel have been friends for many years. They are co-workers at Harris Teeter and discussed this day, years before it even came to be. Juliette is Nichel's sister from another mother with a diffrent outer covering, (LOL). She is truly genuine and has the heart of gold. Another Sagittarius' in the line-up, all this fire represented in the building. As Sagittarius our hearts burn with Passion andwe desire the need to do what's right and honorable. Juliette is just, and a honorable lady who will help whom ever she can. When the living transition took place, Juliette was there helping the Bride and Groom to become one. Through the course of this journey of the Shan and Chel Show, Ursula has been the one that stood by Nichel when all others were not able to for reasons that mean nothing now. The love that has manifested over the years, the journey was truly worth it. There was a conversation that took place years ago and it was one that will never be forgotten. Ursula assured Nichel that she was wonderfully and magnificently made and she had nothing but love for her. God sends people in your life for reasons and seasons. John Pettice aka. 'Jocko', the 151 brother. Jocko is the cousin of the Groom and the two came up together as brothers. He is the son of Mr. John and Cordelia Pettice. Shannon and Jocko share a closeness as brothers that over the years has never wavered and it never will. What a blessing in this day and time to share such a closeness that has existed over 40 years. Juan aka. Boone, Moonie, the Boone-ster share almost the same closeness if not the same as Shannon and Jocko. Coming up they were mistaken as brothers. He and Shannon have been friends, (brothers) for about 40 years. The bond is one that you don't see everyday and needless to say, they argue like an old married couple. Forty years of friendship, I reckon will do that. It's nothing but love between them both.

William 'Tony' Baker, aka "Baker Bake" has been friends with the Groom for over 20 years. In the first years of Shannon and Nichel becoming an unit, it was Baker that said to the Bride, “when he go up, you come down and vice verse,” If you can learn that you will be okay. This advice he may not remember giving but the Bride has never forgotten and that has been exactly the key to their 6 year relationship. Not many people came with genuine, beneficial advice, but this guy did. That in itself stands for more than he will ever know. Baker and Shannon share a special brotherhood relationship. Shannon is grateful to God for bringing him a friend, no brother, like Baker.

Monte aka 'slickster'. He and Shannon has known each other for about 30 years or so. During homecoming, these two share endless ECU stories, but it always involves Techmo something and Von. Sitting back listening to these guys, you surely will need a cocktail close by. They get long winded but Monte always plays it cool sitting in a corner smiling as if he has nothing to prove. If only the walls of Gringo Towers could talk. The truth would come out about who really won and who lost and the stories would be cut about 2 hours short. Where is the fun in that?

Shawn Lipe, aka .Nah man Nah Lipes as Shannon refers to him, have been friends for over 30 years. Shawn just recently celebrated his 50th in which he and Shannon celebrated together. What a blessing to have friends in your life as long as they have been friends. What a time this will be for the fellows to be together once again.

Bennie is in a class of his own. He and the Groom have been circulating in the same circle for years. When the Bride met him, instantly she knew he was a treasure to be kept. One particular occasion when the Groom was at Homecoming and he forgot it was a Marathon and not a Sprint. Groomsman Bennie and Best Man , Juan (aka) Boone, were in the elevator going down with the Bride and Shannon upstairs. Bennie said, “Chel, you know I love you, and the reply was, yeah I Love you too? “You know my Loyalty laying up there in the bed?” Afterwards, the question, “what that mean?” Boone, “it mean we watching your azz!!” Bride - EXHALES , Loudly’ GEESH !! Danner and Shannon have been friends for over 30 years. Danner Dane and Thangs has many stories that will come to light the weekend of November 3rd. Tom Tom, “the original party animal”, has a distinct relationship with the Bride and Groom. Thomas is the God brother of the Bride. He has been in her life since she was 8 years old. They all grew up in the same church and their families knew each other well. Thomas and Shannon met in the party scene. Thomas had no inclination Shannon and Nichel even knew of each other. The first time Nichel walked in Shannon's house and Thomas realized who she came for, well what happened next is a story for the reception and it will be told. Nichel's parents hold Thomas in such high regard he was instructed by the Mother of the Bride to hold it down, and that is exactly what he did. Words cannot be expressed to even measure the Love we have for Tom Tom. His loyalty to us both has been a blessing.

Tony, aka TL, also known as "Got Um" has been watching over Shannon since ECU. Tony was a big man on campus due to his fine football skills. Tony has an appetite of a 400lb man. At the reception do not be alarmed if you see him eating 3/4 times. That is normal for him (lol). Over the years one story that is often told of the two is when Shannon fell asleep in college and was awaken by TL's hand in his pocket. The money was hanging half way out of Shannon’s pocket. Shannon thought he was stealing, but TL was doing the exact opposite. Ensuring it would not get stolen, and they have been rocking with one another since. Nichel loves TL truly, just like a brother. We just need a heads up when he comes to town to make sure there are enough groceries around, lol. Nothing but love for you man.

John is the husband of Jasmin, Matron of Honor. He is also the father of Leela and to Kylee, Flower Girls. John aka J Bizzi, and Shannon grew up together in Cherry. They are more than friends, again Brothers. John John was infamous for throwing his Poolside Birthday Bashes before settling down as a family man. He is now devoted to his wife and three kids. Let’s congratulate John John on his firstborn Son here in October. We are so proud of the precedent John has set in his surroundings. He is a wonderful example of what a Man should be in 2018’. Shannon and Nichel are blessed to be able to call him family.

Nicole and Nichel go all the way back to the days of Big Brown. Their friendship started as they both were a rare breed around the building at UPS. At that time, there weren’t too many females and still isn’t driving a UPS truck. They both were very outspoken and dedicated and strong willed. It was inevitable they became friends. Nicole and Nichel traveled a great deal, in fact, they referred to each other as the other traveling buddy. One day Nicole took Nichel to her final destination, Shannon’s house. Not knowing then eight years later she would be the Lady in Waiting in their wedding. At times, Nichel is indebted to her for the blessing and other times, Nichel wants to give Nicole a piece of her mind... (LOL)... We count it all joy though, Nicole, thank you!

Reese is the daughter of the Bride's Sister, Tinale Hearn. Interestingly enough, while Reese was being born, Nichel was downstairs in the ER on the way out. This will be a story that will be told till the end of time. While out getting food after the birth of Reese, at an out of town hospital on base, Nichel suffered from a seafood allergic reaction. Thank God everyone had just left the hospital and that was one destination that the location was known. As Nichel was rushed into the ER.. and an emergency IV was administered, Little Reese was taking her first breaths. Nichel was praying that the ones she was taking wouldn’t be the last. Life is a funny thing, enjoy the ride!

Leela is very special to Shannon and Nichel. The Thompson Home is where Leela finished baking just before coming out of the oven. Shannon was in the bedroom , Nichel had come home for lunch and Jasmin sat in the living room twisting and turning and moaning while John John worried not, stood on the porch drinking a brew. His reply, “shoot I can’t do nothing”, lol. It was too far of a drive for them to go home so they stayed close by the hospital. A few hours later our baby came. She is notorious for kicking Shannon out of his own bed. We don’t mind it one bit, and we are planning for an “Anticipation Party” for our God Nephew , Leela brother who is due in October.

Kylee is the daughter of Matron of Honor, Jasmin and Groomsman John. Leela is her little big sister. She is the God Niece of the Bride and Groom. It warms the Bride’s heart to see her baby girl and for her to say with such love, “Hey Auntie Chel”. Kylee has grown into a beauty with her ability to steal the stage while she graces all audiences with her slick dance moves and the face of an angel. We are all in for a delightful treat to continue to watch this beautiful baby blossom into more greatness. We love you and are here for you and your sister always!

Aiyana is the daughter of Bridesmaid, Latasha and the sister of Junior Groomsman Ja'Darius. This little angel said to the Bride at the first gathering of the Bridal Party, as she leaned back into the chair and placed her hands behind her head, " I'm trying to be in this wedding". The words that she spoke, everyone around stopped , looked and giggled. With that being said, everyone is on the look out for Flowergirl Aiyanna. This child will be a force to reckon with in life. We are blessed to have her.

Kalari is the great nephew of the Bride. He is so special and smart. We love him dearly and just pray that he makes it down the aisle holding the rings, the most important piece of the ceremony. Whatever he does, he will no doubt be cute doing it. He will steal the show no doubt in his tux and the family cannot wait to see our little handsome ring bearer prepare the way for the Bride.

Victoria, aka. Patricia (to the Bride ONLY) is a part of the Charlie's Angels. She and Maid of Honor, Clevevoya, share a 30 year friendship. Victoria's energy and spirit complement the spirit of the Bride's. Her finesse and zest of life itself will have you laughing and intrigued on your way to your seat. Please make note, if Victoria will be at the door, the best suggestion that can be given is to be where you need to, when you need to. That is all, LOL!!! Our wedding party has officially been completed. We saved the BEST for last!!!

Michelle is a former classmate of the Groom, their friendship has carried for years. However, the day the door opened and closed while she and Maid of Honor, Clevevoya, were standing by no one knew at that moment God was brewing a bond unbreakable. The ladies, Bride included, then became not only friends, but more like sisters. They often refer to themselves as Charlie's Angels. Since the bond started at the door, it is only fitting that guests are met with this gentle, kind spirit to escort them through to witness the Will of God being carried out.

Tani aka. Tee is the Godsister of the Bride. Tee moved here from Florida ten years ago and immediately became a main figure at Mount Moriah. Her ability to organize and her dedication and energy to the church is so profound, she is truly a gem and asset to anything she is affiliated. As Head Hostess that evening will no doubt be one of order and elegance. Nichel loves her dearly even though their interactions sometimes get a little loud, lol. That is nothing but the love between the two and both being strong minded and passionate. A few years back Nichel underwent a very dark and challenging moment, Tee was right by her side. Nichel could not even imagine this day taking place without her being in it. We love you Tee, and thank God for you coming this way.

Sis. Wells is the Bride's past Worthy Matron. Donna exhibits all that a woman should. She is devoted to sisterhood and carries herself in such a manner you cannot mistake which direction she is traveling. She answered the call Nichel made in her time of need and for that, she will be forever grateful. Blood doesn't make you family, loyalty does. We appreciate you for everything.

Lorita is an angel sent from above. She and the bride worked together for a short while and one day, Lorita said, " Hey I want to do something for you." Lorita stepped in and planned the first bridle shower, which was amazing. Then when the bride called, she answered. So many have fallen by the wayside but she has been right by the bride's side. For that, a feeling of gratefulness will always remain. Lorita, thank you for everything. You have made this an amazing journey.

Only if the true story could be told about Mia and Nichel. Needless to say, it is because of the Groom these two have the connection they do. Yet another Sagittarius represented in the lineup. There are several stories Nichel has of this beautiful flower and they are all Good. The first took place in the VIP when Shannon was at homecoming, and the time he forgets he isn't in college anymore. We Facebooked one another and I told Shannon I took his girlfriend (inside joke). She has been my sister every since. The other story was a few years ago I believe, Shannon's 49th birthday there was a storm and the lights went out. Mia came to the rescue and cleaned over 200 pieces of chicken with no lights and no air condition in July. Nothing more really needs to be said, we love you Mia. Both of us!

Sonia Watts is a beautiful young woman inside and out. Months ago, she said to the Bride whatever you need me to I just want to serve. Surely, her time has come. It is truly a blessing to have someone stand for you and in the ninth hour, it speaks volumes. There were many that started the race, but couldn't finish. What an honor it is to have a God fearing woman such as herself standing by. Not to mention, her devotion to her family is one that all women could learn from. Family before all, even herself. Tree and grew up in Cherry, families knowing one another. Tree is an amazing, intelligent young man. He is very well known around the City of Charlotte. Tourists have come and gained so much knowledge through this young man. The last show Nichel saw him do she pulled him to the side in the parking lot and said, “we need you in November.” That was in February or earlier. Audrey owner of Audrey’s Specialty Cakes, and Nichel have a 14 year relationship. Audrey did D’Nasia’s very first cake 14 years ago. It may have been cupcakes. She has done cakes featuring Big Bird and Dora and an amazing Princess Cake. When Nichel’s career at UPS ended Audrey did a UPS truck. Her skills are off the charts and this will be the cake of all cakes. Audrey, we appreciate you after all these years my dear. We have had one heck of a run.
