Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Nicole Lach and Taylor Stull
We love Utah and the incredible nature we get to enjoy every day, and we think you will too. Here are our favorite recommendations for day trips, long weekends, and 7–10 day adventures to help you explore how to make the most out of your trip out West.
Big Cottonwood Canyon

Big Cottonwood Canyon

Cottonwood Heights, UT

Day Trip: Big Cottonwood Canyon is one of Salt Lake City’s most accessible alpine canyons. It’s perfect for anyone, from families to mountaineers, who want everything from easy, flat walks to full mountain-summit hikes. We ski at Solitude and Brighton and hike here often—it’s the closest Cottonwood Canyon to our home in Salt Lake City, which is why it's at the top of our list! Bonus is Little Cotton Wood Canyon right next door.

Park City

Park City

Park City, UT

Day Trip: Park City is one of the country’s most vibrant mountain towns, blending classic alpine charm with a contemporary mountain village atmosphere. It’s perfect for those who want shopping, art, great food, and optional adventure—like hiking or mountain biking at Deer Valley—just 40 minutes from Sundance. We visit Park City often with friends and almost always bring out-of-towners to its adorable Main Street. Bonus is Midway, a cute town in between Sundance and PC.

Zion National Park

Zion National Park

Zion, UT

2-4 Day Trip: Zion National Park is the mecca of Utah’s red rock paradise. It’s ideal for visitors planning a 2–4 day trip who want to pair Zion with Capitol Reef and Bryce Canyon for a completely different environment than the big mountains of Salt Lake City. Zion is special to us. We once watched sunset on Angels Landing entirely alone when the trail was closed ;) during the COVID-19 pandemic—an unforgettable experience.

Grand Teton National Park

Grand Teton National Park

Jackson, WY

2-4 Day Trip: Grand Teton National Park is Wyoming’s crown jewel of rugged peaks, alpine lakes, and wildlife. It’s perfect for an extended trip combining the Tetons and Yellowstone, inviting visitors of all physical abilities to climb into ancient glacial canyons and explore geothermic wonders in some of the most beautiful countryside in the United States. We recommend it because we’ve backpacked in both parks and plan to return after our wedding— it's one of our favorite places on earth. Bonus is shopping and hanging in downtown Jackson.

Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon Village, AZ

7-Day Trip: Grand Canyon National Park is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. It’s perfect to combine with Zion, Bryce, and other southern Utah parks on a 7-10 day loop. We know many people who have also visited Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Horseshoe Bend, and Sedona before flying home from Las Vegas or Phoenix. After skydiving over the Grand Canyon, and finishing this 7-day loop, Nicole and I discovered our love for the West, and felt inspired to move across the country together in 2021.
