In 2019 Erica flew out to Idaho to work at Camp MiVoden for the summer and first met Nic then. We worked in different areas of camp and didn't really connect until after Erica's second summer there. In 2020, both of us worked summer camp and then continued on to work the off season at camp. It was in this off-season time that we connected. One afternoon Nic invited Erica out to go paddle boarding and the next few hours were spent talking and laughing out on the lake. Many meals, chats, and star-gazing meet-ups later Nic took Erica to Palouse Falls and asked her to be his girlfriend. Throughout the next year as they dated they took lots of road trips to national parks in which car rides proved to be great times of talking about God, life, and future plans. In August of 2021 a lot of things changed. We took off on a month long road trip to meet each other's friends and family and for Erica to have an interview. Over the trip Erica got a job in Keene, TX as a youth pastor. As September began Erica was moving to Texas with Nic following close behind. Once in Texas it took a while to find a place to live, but when Erica finally had a place, Nic took the chance to ask the big question. The first night in her new place led to dancing in the empty living room. As the song Commitment ended, Nic sent Erica out for a spin and when he brought her back, he was on one knee with a ring in his hand asking her to marry him.
