This past year has been incredibly hectic, but Nic and Emily managed to get married on the day they were planning to, on September 19th, 2020, in an intimate ceremony surrounded by close friends and family. However, they would love to celebrate with more friends and family this year, now that it is more safe to do so! There will not be a ceremony this time around - it will just be a reception, filled with food, laughter, toasts, dancing, and cake!

In 2012, we were both starting our freshman year at Shepherd University and ended up in the same Honors dorm, Martin Hall. Nic ended up living right above me, and we met just through our room mates knowing each other. We did have a sort of pull to each other instantly, it seemed. We quickly found out that we had a lot in common - we were both the oldest sibling in our families, loved to write and read, ended up being English majors together, and had many of the same outlooks on life. From there, it just snowballed into what it is today! We have been together 8 years, and we never doubted that we would get here, but it still feels surreal all the same.
One of our many shared interests is Pokemon, as many people know. In September 2016, right after we graduated from Shepherd, Nic told me that we were going to Washington D.C. to play Pokemon Go, which was a frequent date of ours at the time. We got off at the Union Station metro and walked towards the Library of Congress, my favorite building. The whole walk it seemed like we talked about nothing, yet everything. Special moments of our relationship over the past 4 years interwoven with seemingly mundane topics. We finally arrived at the Jefferson building entrance, and I told Nic I was going to look how busy it was inside. I took a brief glance, turned around, and he was down on one knee at the steps.
