We met at a writing session...
On April 17th, 2023, we were on our way to a 'date' that Cory planned. Along the way he called his parents to ask if we could meet up for lunch (who by the way deserve an Oscar award for their supreme acting abilities - they even threw in a curve ball and said they were not available at first). We ate, shared good conversation, and then went on with our day... As we were driving along the coast, we passed the Point Vicente Lighthouse. Lighthouses hold a special place in our hearts because my father loved them so much. This one in particular would always remind us of him and I immediately suggested that we stop by. I had NO idea that he was planning on asking me to marry him in less than 15 minutes, in that exact spot! We walked up a beautiful path lined with yellow flowers, the sun was shining through the clouds, and the lighthouse was just below. As we made it to the top, the ocean view was breathtaking. I looked out, and when I turned around Cory was on his knee. He asked for my dads blessing first, then asked if I would marry him. I said "yes" and just as he placed the ring on my finger, a flock of seagulls soared by (seagulls were incorporated in my dads celebration of life - another sweet sign from God). When we saw this we knew instantly that my Dad had given his blessing. We were soon greeted by Cory's two best friends, David and Haruka who were documenting the moment. We all headed down towards the lighthouse and I was surprised with the most beautiful floral arrangements by one of my best friends, Genesis. Cory and I prayed and had alone time for about an hour then celebrated by going to dinner and calling all of our friends & family. Most importantly, we thank the Lord for bringing us together, our love would not be possible without him. Just two days before the proposal, one of my best friends, Gaby, mentioned that her church was doing baptisms. God put it on my my heart and I was baptized at Zuma Beach on April 16th, just 24 hours prior to the proposal - TRULY divine timing! "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." - Proverbs 3:5-6
