Welcome to wedding weekend! We can't wait to celebrate with everyone! A few reminders: Please make sure to check the weather. If the skies are rain-free, we will be proceeding with an outdoor ceremony, so bundle up accordingly! We promise it will be short :) We've added a few events to the schedule, such as a pre-wedding pizza party and a morning after brunch! Head on over to the "Schedule" section of the website for details!
Elena was working at a theatre up in Portsmouth, NH in spring 2018. She had a couple of days off surrounding her birthday, so Michael came and picked her up and drove her to his parents' house in NH so they could all visit and she could cuddle the crap out of their dog, Heidi. The next morning (Elena's birthday), Michael planned a trip to Nubble Lighthouse, a place Michael's mom Kim had told Elena all about, claiming it was a beautiful scene on the rocky coast of Maine (she was right!) As they drove to the lighthouse, Michael seemed a little nervous, and after spotting a bottle of champagne in the bag Kim had packed them, Elena started to get a bit suspicious and nervous herself*! Michael also brought Elena her nice red peacoat so she could "look nice on her birthday" (red flag!) They calmed their nerves by blasting Elena's boyband-themed playlist. Once there, they wandered the beautiful rocks jutting out into the ocean. As they were doing so, Michael suggested they have someone take their photo (RED FLAG!) He asked a woman nearby if she would help them out, and this wonderful stranger (never even got her name) climbed WAY out of her way to get the perfect angle. As she did so, Michael suggested they go out onto one rock in particular that had a dry spot that had not yet been dampened by the freezing Maine sea (RED FLAG!!!) They made their way out, he got down on one knee, pulled out his great grandmother's ring (which was tied to his pocket in case he got nervous and dropped it in the ocean), said he wrote a speech but forgot it, said some perfect things regardless, asked Elena to marry him, Elena wept like an infant, and the stranger got some of the most wonderful photos of the most wonderful moment! Now, whenever they see a lighthouse, Michael asks Elena if she still wants to get married. *Michael claims Elena knew Michael was going to propose more and more with each retelling. Elena has no idea what Michael is talking about.
