We met at work when Matt was temporarily lent to Michaela's team for a project. Matt was fresh meat and all the ladies fawned over him; Michaela was a professional and attempted to ignore it. We started to "unintentionally" bump into each other outside of work. It wasn't until October 2016 before Michaela got the idea to setup a kickball team in the hopes that Matt would join. A month later, Matt was meeting Michaela's family and the rest was history.

After having to postpone and re-plan the proposal three times due to the pandemic, on April 18, 2021 Matt surprised Michaela by proposing while they celebrated his birthday. We planned to grab brunch and have a picnic in Piedmont Park. Unbeknownst to Michaela, Matt had snuck a bottle of champagne and a single pink rose in our cooler. He also planned for our friend Christina to hide in the trees to capture the moment. As Michaela was laying out the blanket at our usual spot, Matt tossed the rose on the blanket to grab her attention. When she turned around, he was on one knee asking her to marry him.
