Mississippi Ave is one of our favorite streets in Portland, and Prost! is our go to spot. You will find the best food carts in the city here, with a bar and German beer garden. Other popular spots on Mississippi Ave are Bar Bar and Broder Nord (brunch).
NW 23rd Ave is another favorite street of ours. Close to the Timbers Stadium, you will find lots of great restaurants and shopping! Some of our favorite stops here are Grassa, Zula, Elephant's Delicatessen, Thai Bloom, and HunnyMilk. If you like board games, you will want to check out Mox Boarding House!
Don't want to leave Portland, but still want to experience the outdoors of the Pacific Northwest? There are several parks that are within city limits! The Portland Japanese Garden is said to be the most authentic Japanese Garden in the world outside of Japan. The scenery, floral & fauna is beautiful. Forest Park is just northwest of the city. Get the true PNW vibe with dirt hiking trails through the forest. The feature photo is from one of these trails. Other popular parks in Portland are the Rose Garden, and Mount Tabor!
About 40 minutes southwest of Portland, Willamette Valley is home to more than 700 wineries with stunning scenery. Oregon is most known for their Pinot Noirs, and French-like Chardonnays. You can't go wrong with a trip to wine country! Some of the bride & groom's favorite wineries are Domain Drouhin, Alexana, Trisaetum, Ponzi, and Eminent Domaine. If you make the trip, be sure to stop at Red Hills Market in Dundee for lunch!
Just outside of Salem, this park is the home of one of Oregon's most famous hiking trails. The Trail of 10 Falls is a 7 mile loop, but no need to do the full hike to see a waterfall! There is a big waterfall very close to the parking lot, and you can walk behind the fall for a cool experience. Or you can take the smaller 3 mile loop for a shorter hike, and get to see a few extra waterfalls.
If you have a car, a day trip to Hood River might be in order. The 1.5 hour drive from Portland to Hood River along the Columbia River Gorge is one of the most stunning drives in the world (according to Lauren!). Hood River is home to lots of breweries and you-pick farms, and September is one of the best times of the year for it. Pick apples, peaches, pears, plums. Grocery store fruit will never taste the same again!
If you have a car and don't mind a 2.5 hour drive, the trip to Oregon's beaches is another drive that will leave you awe struck. Cannon Beach is Oregon's most famous, known for being in The Goonies and Twilight. Along Oregon's coast, you will find plenty of restaurants serving fresh caught fish and seafood. Stop at the Tillamook factory along your way for fresh cheese and ice cream!
