What should I bring?

To help you stay comfy in Alaska’s August weather and remote setting, we recommend bringing: For Everyone: Layers (evening temps can drop into the 40s) Warm jacket/sweater Rain jacket or shell Comfortable outdoor shoes/boots Bug spray Sunscreen (sunset around 10pm!) How far away is the venue?

Answer

It’s approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from the Anchorage airport to the venue. Please note that Uber and Lyft are not reliable this far outside the city, so we strongly recommend renting a car.

Is cell service reliable?

Answer

Cell Service + WiFi at the Venue How reliable is cell service at Briarwood Farms? Cell service in Sutton is spotty and varies a lot by carrier and exact location. Here’s what guests can expect: AT&T: Usually the most reliable in Sutton, but still inconsistent. Verizon: Very limited coverage; often no signal. T-Mobile / Sprint: Generally unreliable or no service. GCI (local Alaska carrier): Mixed but sometimes works better than major carriers. Mountains, trees, and weather can all affect coverage, so even if your carrier normally works in Palmer or Anchorage, you may have weak or no signal on the property. Will there be WiFi? Yes! We will be providing Starlink WiFi for guests. Starlink is fast, reliable satellite internet that works great in remote Alaska locations, but: Speeds may slow if many guests use it at once Perfect for messaging, maps, checking in, light browsing Not intended for streaming, uploading large videos, or major work tasks Recommendations for Guests Download directions and maps ahead of time. Enable WiFi Calling on your phone. Expect limited service when driving between Anchorage to Sutton. Don’t rely on Uber/Lyft for transportation (they are not reliable here). Let someone know when you’re traveling to/from the venue if you won’t be on WiFi.

Are pets allowed?

No, we kindly ask that you leave pets at home. The venue cannot accommodate animals (other than Juno)

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Kids are extremely limited for this event. Please only bring children if you have received direct permission from the bride or groom.

Is the ceremony outdoors?

Answer

Yes! Our ceremony will be held outdoors, surrounded by the mountains. We’ll have a few covered areas available, but as true Alaskans know, we always plan for the worst and hope for the best. Please come prepared with layers and weather friendly clothing; rain jackets, warm sweaters, or boots if needed. Alaska likes to keep things interesting!

What should I wear?

What to Expect Daytime highs in August are typically in the mid-50s °F (~12–14 °C). Evening and overnight lows can dip into the low 40s °F (~4–6 °C) or even the low 40s. Light rain or drizzle is possible, since August is one of the wetter months in the region. Attire Suggestions For the ceremony and general arrival (around 3:30 PM): Think semi-formal outdoorsy but still polished. We will be getting married outside, rain or shine! Closed toe shoes or dressy boots are smart (you’ll be on grass). For post-sunset/into evening (when it cools): Bring a cozy layer: fleece, puffer v-neck, or a wool cardigan. A rain jacket or shell is wise just in case the weather shifts. If you’re camping or staying late: warm socks, maybe a beanie, and a heavier jacket.

What time should I arrive?

1:30 PM - 3:30 PM: Camper Arrival & Setup If you have a camping pass, feel free to roll in anytime during this window. Check in with the coordinator when you arrive so they can show you where to park and set up. 3:30-4 PM: All Other Guests Arrive

Is there parking on site?

Answer

Yes, there will be signs directing you to on site parking. Please park as closely as you comfortably can to help us conserve space for all guests.

Is there drinking water on site?

Answer

Yes! We will provide a large amount of bottled drinking water for safe consumption. We will have a recycle center for the used bottles.

Will there be electricity?

Answer

There is a charging bar for devices are available on site; regular power plugs available for your use.

Will there be bathrooms/ showers on site?

Answer

The venue provides three large indoor restrooms and two outdoor urinals; one restroom includes a baby changing station and they are handicap accessible. We unfortunately do not have showers on site, other than select RV campers (emergencies happen!)

Will there be heaters or fire pits?

Answer

Yes! There will be a fire starting around 8pm on Saturday. We will also have two tower propane heaters around.

Will there be food or drinks before the ceremony?

Answer

You will have access to charcuterie + champagne (plus non-alcoholic beverages) from 3:30-4:30pm.

Will there be alcohol?

Answer

Yes! We are providing an open bar. Please know your limits and drink responsibly; we are quite literally in the middle of nowhere, and we want everyone to stay safe and have a great time.

Is smoking/vaping allowed?

Answer

Yes! We will have designated smoking/vaping areas on the property. Please dispose of all cigarette butts in the containers provided; the venue charges $50 per butt left on the ground, we will take these penalties out of our travel fund. We will have marijuana, cigars, and cigarettes available for guests who wish to partake. As always, please be respectful of others and use common sense.

What time do non campers need to leave?

Answer

Non-campers are expected to wind down and head out around 10:00 PM, with a hard cutoff at 10:30 PM for all vehicles to exit the property.

Will there be breakfast for campers in the morning?

Answer

Yes! Camping pass guests are welcome to stay for a light breakfast/brunch the next morning. We’ll have coffee, tea, and small breakfast items available to help you ease into the day before packing up.

What time do campers need to leave?

Ideally we would like everyone to leave by 12pm on Sunday 8/9. Thank you!
